I'm headed to the butcher today, the pool's open, and I've got three bottles of barrel proof bourbon that my dad brought me a couple weekends ago.

What are y'all doing?

Smoking a turkey breast, working on a bottle of Woodford and may throw a couple of fillets on the grill before a few hands of poker.

Going to a fish fry Friday. After that I’m undecided. Brisket is at the top of my list, but 17 the current prices.

Pulled pork, sausage, BOC tater salad, and beans. Wash it down with some distilled wheat and cranberry juice. 🇺🇸

Around me, it's gone from 3.79 to 5.29 in less than 2 years for prime. $100 for an uncooked brisket kinda takes the fun out of it.
I don’t grind the trimmings for burgers so $15-20 of it is just wasted money.

I may just pop some popcorn, ice down some beer and watch this drama play out ... LOL

"Shooting fireworks in the city limits of Madison or Ridgeland in particular could result in fines —possibly even jail time depending on the mood of a judge on the day of court.

Madison police officials are warning residents not to shoot fireworks in the city over the Fourth of July weekend or they could be in trouble."

I’m the same way - don’t really want to get a grinder that takes up space to get used twice a year. I do generally save some of the fat and let that render down for tallow so I have a little to pour over when I wrap.

I’ve tried using homemade tallow when wrapping. Seemed to mellow out the crust too much. I like the salt and pepper flavor.

It does. I did one two years ago for the 4th, but I haven't touched one since. I love brisket, but when pork butts are $1.49/lb and you've got a household of people that love pulled pork, it's hard to justify the high price of beef

Headed to Lake Bruin with already cooked pulled pork and 20 lbs of leg quarters for the grill. I’m an ice cold beer guy on the 4th. Then we are going to the beach. I think I’ll drink margaritas all day and then look for the brown water at night.

Son and daughter-in-law are coming into town, so I have four nice filets waiting for the grill.

Aloha. On the north shore with my son, DIL and grandson. Probably some grilled Mahi with mango salsa, Miller Lite, and Basil Hayden (son's favorite). free Collective Soul concert on Schofield Barracks that evening. Should be fun.
