When I was a young kid, I was a big John Brodie fan. He was a really good QB for the 49ers back in the ‘60’s into the early ‘70s. After football, he became a color commentator for NFL games and some big college games. I remember him paired with play by play announcer Charley Jones on NBC. They were excellent together and Brodie was an outstanding analyst.

I remember John Brodie well when I was a student at Berkeley and he was the Niners QB. (Steve Spurrier was his understudy for a while.) For most of that time, the Niners played at Kezar Stadium, located in Golden Gate Park not far from the Haight-Ashbury. I don't know if that location was one of the Niners' problems!
