OT: Just a Hypothetical ?, but how would Patrick O'Brien fit into Scott Frost's offense?

He has a dual threat comitted. I suspect he would try to go JUCO and senior transfer and also use Gebbia/POB for passing.

So Frost is already recruiting for Nebraska?

Secondly, both POB and Gebbia aren't sticking around past the spring if Frost is hired and starts recruiting JUCO QBs. Your QB next year will be a true freshman, a walk on named Marsh or a dual threat JUCO QB that no one has heard of. The new coach is going to have about 18 days to sign a JUCO and 68 days to keep an 11 man class from denigrating and recruit a class of 18-20.

Whatever Tuco, this is just a hypo, if your forecasts are accurate, that is still better than the status quo.

Great. The poster I was replying to writes as though he has some sort of knowledge of the situation. Gebbia isn't sticking around to be a back up to Marsh and a JUCO. POB doesn't run well enough to succeed in Frost's offense and this isn't little league where you bring in a passer on passing downs and a runner on running downs. 2 QB rotations rarely, if ever, work.

And if you believe Marsh or a JUCO is going to be better than the status quo, that is great too. The issues at Nebraska are quality depth and has been for years. Probably best to hire Frost now so he can get the 2018 beat downs out of the way and preach future to the recruits.

If they would want to leave them more power to them. Frost would bring in his own guys either way. He started a freshman his first year as a head coach and that has payed off for this season.

Both POB and Gebbia would fit great. QB doesn't need to be a huge runner in his offense, more just keep the D honest. Just spread the ball around make good reads on the RPO's, etc. Look a guy like Hubert at Oregon, mobile enough but not exactly RG3.
POB isn't very good in the first place. Gebbia does have some mobility and would probably do very well with Frost.

You wrote he has a dual threat committed. I don’t know who “he” is if you weren’t talking about Frost. Since we were talking about Nebraska QBs and Frost, you writing “he already has a dual threat committed” led me to believe you were talking about Frost and Nebraska

Riley should have started a freshman last year, but he'd have been crucified by the fan base. Frost would have no worries, see the difference?

Works for me...considering the alternative.

I know you kind of mean that in jest, but Riley has slow played or sandbagged everything since he has been here. I thought it was a tremendous mistake to kick the can down the road the first two years and to then finally reboot everything in year 3. He should have been trying to build something immediately. Regardless, he's accountable for the results on the field.

I could see maybe POB leaving but there's no way they're both leaving. Your scare tactics don't work.

Frost, if he is our coach next year, will go straight into implementing his system and I would fully support that. He has a dual threat QB committed for his UCF class so he just needs to make sure he flips him to Nebraska if he becomes a coach. That will give him a dual threat guy for the running game. Then he can also go after a senior graduate transfer like he did at Oregon or a JUCO.

if fans blow up the program again, and we flip flop from pass happy back to the run, could we get that qb at ohio state, burrow?

Again, you are assuming Gebbia could not play in a SF offense and/or he would leave. I am saying that is not necessarily the case.

Plus, no one.....no one spends more time studying the game than Gebbia. He will be a flat out stud in any system.

Burrow isn't an option. And, no, we will not be going completely away from a passing game. Instead of the pro style routes and concepts, it will be about seam passes and bubble screens.

Frost is about passing efficiency and they are one of the best in the nation in that category.

Not saying he can't. I personally think GOB will be gone no matter if Riley is around or not. I think Gebbia and that kid out of MI that Frost has committed would be a good combo for Frost to start things off with.

Completely agree. Very small chance Gebbia leaves.

He made a massive mistake from the start. He should have booted a ton of cancers from the squad and went with the freshman and completely implement his offense. The program would be alot better off right now had he done this.

Jesus, I can’t f_cking wait for this season to end, that way all of this stupid **** stops when you guys all see Rileys still here. And anyone who’s fine with both OBrein and Gebbia leaving has lost there dam mind. If that happened, we’d be in the biggest world of hurt that it wouldn’t be funny. It did make me laugh though, you guys all assuming if Frost did happen to come, then automatically the QB that picked the UCF would suddenly flip to Huskers too, just because of Frost. He might of picked UCF over other teams for position coach or wanted to stay local or what ever. It’s rare to see recruits flip to a different school there once old coach went to for there new job.

Riley will be here next year, Lee, OBrein, Gebbia and our Juco QB will all will be here too. We will finally have some depth at QB, yes Lee’s struggling now but what’s not to say it won’t be a complete night and day difference type deal for Lee next year with all our returning starters coming back. Right, with All the starters we have coming back, I pray Riley is here next year and year after at minimum. It would be nice to have an experienced team, instead of young and no depth. And having a real chance at winning the west.

Blah blah....Riley will be fired in the end. How people want to support a career loser is amazing.

People must want 3 losing seasons out of 4.

It isn’t scare tactics. My comments or opinions don’t affect what those 2 do. But Gebbia is in a better situation to transfer than POB. If POB leaves he is going to have to drop down a level, he only has 3 years of eligibility remaining and will have to sit out one if he transfers to another FBS school leaving him only 2. So far he has high school tape and 4 plays at Nebraska. Not much to evaluate.

Secondly if you read my original post I said both QBs won’t be here not neither QB will be here.

That is an important difference that I didn't catch. Kids want to play, bottom line. QB's transfer because it doesn't look like they will get to play, weather that is from a coaching change or getting passed on the depth chart.
