I’m not going to get into whether abortion should be illegal or legal. But it’s totally lame saying a woman should have the right chose what to do with her body. What ridiculous argument. A woman or a man doesn’t have the right to choose what they do with their body. It’s not legal to smoke meth. It’s not legal to drive drunk. It’s not legal to walk in someone else’s house. Etc. All of those things are choices you make about your body and what you do with it. But they are illegal.

I'll admit I'm a republican. Have very conservative views. However, in order to think about economics in a rational way, religion has to be kept out of the conversation. Conservative views tend to lean more religious thinking and I agree that if you choose to have sex, you should have to live with the consequences of your actions. Unfortunately, at the current moment, our earth isn't able to support the population at the increasing rate we're pumping people out. The greater the population, the greater the amount of resources needed, pollution, overcrowding, etc. As I said, I agree that you should have to reap the consequences of your actions, but maybe we should just give em abortion and us not partake in it if we don't agree with it. People will get it done, in a more unsafe fashion, if they so choose anyways. Generally, the people that want to get an abortion are the ones that don't want to take care of their kids in the first place. One day, those same kids (not all but a great majority) will grow up. People like me and you will paying an average of 33,000$ per year to house them in a federal prison or they'll add to the amount of uneducated people that cause a majority of the economic problems (welfare, disability, food programs, etc.). Just some of my observations.
Edit: the hypocrisy the other poster was pointing out in your OP is that you believe in God but also believe in a woman's right to choose to have sex. God says that a woman should wait until marriage and that adultery is a sin. God can help in the right circumstance and hurt in the wrong circumstance. We need to know when to compartmentalize.

I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. I think think this is how it should work. Unfortunately, politicians aren't independent thinkers and actors anymore. Maybe they never were. Most of the time if you elect a Democrat, or a Republican, they succumb to the pressure to vote with their party, especially on key pieces of legislation. I just don't think you can trust an elected official to stand against his party on high profile pieces of legislation. If that were the case, the ACA, for example, would never have passed. Some have the courage to do it, but most fall in line and vote how they are told. Until politicians become more independent and vote based on what they actually believe, I think electing a Democrat, if you are a conservative, or a Republican, if you are a liberal, is too great of a risk.

McConnell would bend Jones over twice as hard as he did to old Horse-face Grimes. At least Allison had experience as a statewide office holder coming from a prominent political family. Jones has nothing but his platform as an agitator (sports and otherwise). Matt is also on record as being a big fan of Obama's policies. That dog won't hunt in Kentucky.
I like Matt and KSR. And honestly I side with the Dems more than the Pubs on most issues. But no I wouldn't vote for him. His persona is great for a sports talk show but I don't want that in the Senate.

I know he's a democrat but has he publicly stated a platform? Has he stated his personal view for the future of KY? I mean an officially stated political platform. Not just passing talk on his show about this or that.

I think we are refusing to vote for him based on his beliefs. Matt is no moderate. Not even close. Matt would be another vote for Pelosi. No way any Kentuckian should allow that to happen.

I don't live in KY so can't vote there, but considering the cesspool of candidates KY is producing out of the Republican party, he would certainly be considered if I had a vote.
