My how Memphis in May has changed.

edited to add: Memphis in general isn’t the “safest” spot. However I would, personally, take into consideration the proposed lineup in gauging the potential for malarkey to occur

Prepare for violence on Saturday. Road rage always pops up when there is a large collection of Chinese and their notoriously bad driving.

Yes it fine …pay attention around you downtown. But lots of good food downtown and Inside the fest no problem at all with security

Tom Lee Park

safe for a concert?

Nope. Got killed twice yesterday while walking my dog. SOB pissed on my leg while waiting for someone to revive me.

Cmon Mane, downtown Memphis ain’t nothing like downtown Jackson. Plus there’ll be all kinds of police, ICE, National Guard, and who knows what other agencies there.

With the recent Federal “assistance”, a concert at Tom Lee Park will be as safe as it’s been in 30 years. That being said, sophisticated artists such as Gangsta Blac and Frayser Boy won’t draw the 4-H, Eagle Scout, and Future Atom Splitters of America types…

Safe? Yes

Assuming you’re in the typical SPS 40-60 age range, the real question is whether you’re still prepared to deal with the festival mob. I wouldn’t mind seeing DMB again, but the thought of being crammed in the middle of 30,000 drunk/stoned 20 year olds that are pissing all over the place in the rain just isn’t quite as appealing as it used to be.

You’ll be fine. They have a huge police presence at those music fests.
This thread is funny. I’ve never had trouble in downtown Jackson or Memphis, however, if there were a production company called Jacobo that had a great lineup at Battlefield Park, I would not attend and would warn anyone thinking about going not to go.

Amazing how someone says something and the typical scared of their shadow Rankin Republicans all have to share their disdain for urban areas. Dude says it, gotta be true, eh?

@horshack.sixpack - yes, it is safe.
Amazing how one can post their opinion(s), not direct them at anyone, and a 17ing lib can’t resist the urge to attempt a smear

Because you were probably in both downtowns from 8 a to noon. Your entire workday. Try it after 10 pm hero

Based on that lined up, it will be a crowd of 40-55 year old white people.

It will be safe. My only advice, is park in a parking garage or a lot that has security. Other than that, you'll be fine.

I went to one Beale St, / Riverfront Music Fest my entire life because the lineup was so good........Huey Lewis, Bryan Adams, Little Richard, KC & The Sunshine Band, BB King, The Kinks, & GE Smith & the Saturday Night Live Band playing mucho blues stuff. Plus many others I forgot. Crime is ok usually at those festivals with so much police presence. Just don't venture off into the known gang areas of MS13, Tren de Aragua, Bloods, Crypts, and many others. They are not close to downtown or the river front, so festival goers should be ok. Plus, I assume some Nat. Guardsmen are still in some of those gang areas. Your only likely problem may be some drunks and a few pick pockets. Crime is definitely better overall though.
