Since he resigned and chose not to get fired he doesn't control where he wants to coach for the next two years. The Steelers control where he can go as they can ask for different compensation from the teams interested.

My guess he is going to TV in some format.

I have heard for years that the TV people love Tomlin in the booth for NFL games. He might have did some testing a few years back. As a Giant fan, him or Harbaugh would be great, I do not want more “experimental coaches”.

TV for a year then let the offers begin.
I feel he just didn't want to put up with the Steelers fans after having a season that disappointed him
A quick google found this
>Tomlin's family, including his wife, has been subjected to racist abuse on social media, prompting concern and condemnation.
Some fans have protested outside Tomlin's home, leading to comments from others about respecting the coach's family. <

Listening to some of Pittsburgh's ex-players, they feel all the defensive rule changes hurt the "Steeler's Way." They include the rest of the division and lament the missing brutality of old Ravens v Steelers games (for example). There's probably something to that along with the QB problems.

Pittsburgh's next HC, (My guess)

I look for Klint Kubiak of the Seahawks if Pittsburgh decides they need an offensive minded HC .
Doesn't hurt that he played DB in college and that probably would help him know the D is just important
and his father ,Gary , was an NFL HC at Houston and Denver ( when they won the Super Bowl in 2015)
.

My choice other choice would be the Chargers DC, Jesse Minter, if Pitt goes for a defensive minded HC
Doesn't hurt that his dad Rick Minter, was the HC at the University of Cincinnati for 10 years and a long time football coach

How many other Rutgers fans hoped Schiano would also step down?

This program had a scarlet opportunity and blew it

I read somewhere ( Yardbarker or Bleacher Report ) Steelers might hire McCarthy because his relation with Rodgers is a good one now and Rodgers coming back to play next year wouldn't be affected if McCarthy was hired. That might even help get Rodgers to return, if that's what the Steelers want

Found this article
>McCarthy is a Pittsburgh guy, and he's someone Rodgers appreciates.
It may just be the kind of match that brings Rodgers back to the Steelers for one more year.<

An uneducated guess.
McCarthy gets hired Rodgers returns , the Steelers draft Drew Allar in 2nd round (53) to sit and learn under Rodgers Either that or maybe do the same for Will Howard in an attempt to develop him for the 2027 starting role

Seems like a very underwhelming choice. Rodgers has maybe 1-2 years left. I thought they’d go with another up and coming defensive coach like Minter.

Steeler fan. I couldn't be more disappointed in this hire. They had a chance to move into the 21st century, be forward thinking and get some juice in the building and with a young exciting hire. Shula. Kubiak. Hell I would have taken any of the folks they were interviewing. They chose to live in the past with a has-been. And probably bring Rogers back for another march towards 9-8.
The problem is A. Rooney II thinks they are a lot closer to contending than they are, so he keeps bringing in old players, and old coaches to get them over the hump, instead of biting the bullet and rebuilding.
Ugh, I'm sick.

Could be worse….you could be the Bills. They might end up with Daboll.
cry me a Rivers .
But no matter who gets hired ,Terry Pegula has the bus ready and he's willing to use it to protect his ( now)
President of Football Operations, who earned that position driving the bus that ran over McDermott.

"In 2019, Tyler Dunne (then of BleacherReport.com) took a very deep dive into the relationship between Rodgers and McCarthy, who was fired late in the 2018 season.

“Mike has a low football IQ, and that used to always bother Aaron,” an unnamed source told Dunne at the time. “He’d say Mike has one of the lowest IQs, if not the lowest IQ, of any coach he’s ever had.”

Many people agree.
