Very pretty moderate snow for the last 2+ hrs in Manhattan but totally wasted again as it’s only sticking on car hoods/roofs and dirt.

Have had moderate snowfall for most of the last hour and we're up to 1.0" on the colder surfaces (it's still 32F), much faster than I expected; have about 1/4-1/2" on most untreated paved surfaces now, as you can kind of see in the pic below. Precip has lightened up a bit and looks like there might be a lull for the next ~20 minutes or so.

yup total non event south of 78.....got less than an inch of colder surfaces and snow now changing to a mix of sleet and rain and actually precip seems to have shut off altogether

This has been more than a lull. Precip just shut off for the most part soon after my last post about 45 minutes ago; we're at 1.1" and on hold. Still 32F so I have no idea what type of precip we'll get when precip presumably starts up again.

It's called cold rain

Leaf piles were the only accumulation at home to outside Philly. Streets, sidewalks lawns nothing. Too warm and last storm cleared all the salt away. Still light drizzle. The big, needed rain comes later.

Strange winter part of the storm. Started out like gangbusters, putting down 1.1" in about 2.5 hours and then poof, precip just turned off since about 5:00 pm and it's now up to 33F with some light rain falling - possibly missed another 1-2 hours of snow. Seems like this one is over south of 78 for wintry precip and even north all the way towards 84 has changed over to sleet and freezing rain already.

That's 1.1" vs. my prediction yesterday of 1.4" and the NWS prediction of 2.0", so a bit of an underperformer south of 78 as expected and similar 1" amounts for most N of 78, making for a more significant bust there, where 2-4" were forecast, although reports of icing are common N of 78 with temps still below 32F, so could still be a significant impact event for that. These snow to mix to rain systems are just very difficult to predict accurately, especially aloft. Brings us to 15.9" on the season, which isn't too far behind normal for this date.

Raining like a bee-yotch right now, but can't let that dissuade me from going to the gym. Hey, at least I know I won't be falling on my *** tonight while grilling steaks!

Absolutely, but we don't need these winds; be careful if walking around outside, as the wind warning is still in effect for the entire area with 25-35 mph winds and gusts up to 50-60 mph. That can bring down branches and a few trees and maybe even @DJ Spanky... šŸ˜‰

What, sure footed me?
