With steaming and online fantasy- MNF has lost it's special appeal.

I remember back in the old old days- as young kids watching football- MNF with Cosell/Meredeth/Karas etc - it was the only game you could see "other" teams.
You ALWAYS waited for Monday Nights and it was a family event. Dad used to give us 1 night a week to stay up late and make it a family night- This part of the season- Always MNF and frozen pizza. Part of the reason I have a secret love of stouffers french bread pizza to this day.
The openings we an event.
During non football season- we just scoured the HBO guide for movies with nudity for our late nights lol

There are too many games now
A football game was a pedestal event
Now they are on so often I watch them like basketball - tune-in for the end of the game.
Too many fast food commercials- and they like to make commercials loud to make sure you look.
Its like being bacteria cultivated in a dish

Loved Meredith. 'Turn out the lights, the party's over". And 1 blow out when they put the camera on a dispondant who flipped the bird "That's right, we're #1."

I feel like those Stouffer's french bread pizzas are not as good as they used to be...is it me?

Aw... Poor poor white men. What a horrible, terrible, awful situation they're in.

How dare American culture evolve past a time when women and minorities were excluded from everything! How dare American culture no longer cater exclusively to white males! Whatever is the world coming to?

😂
for all of their embrace of all things macho and masculine, they sure are whiny little b's.

Was just mentioning to my wife over the weekend how I used to love those things. Been a long, long time since I had one.
Had a Stouffers french bread pizza.. maybe 5 years ago? The hot lava burning teh roof of my mouth was somewhat familiar... but as others said.. kinda sucked otherwise.

Every so often I get a craving for a SFBP but haven't had one in memory. As I recall you had about a 15 second window to take it out of the oven at the ideal temperature

It's like everything else - they probably give you less of the good stuff and charge you more. I will still have them on occasion. May add some of my own extra cheese and sometimes chopped olives.

I also remember the Stouffers FB pizzas being good. But it's probably a distorted, romanticized nostalgic memory rather than it actually being good.

So funny the mention of SFBP brought up memories of so many. Was always my favorite but can't remember the last time I had one. I used to get them all the time in between my divorce and meeting my much better wife. The supreme was always the way to go.
But the first memory was back in the 70's when we got our one late night per school week and watching MNF. I want to say that Dad used to get Elios for our football watching before that.

I used to always finish my cooking of them with a 2 minute broil at the end.

Not entirely sure to whom "all" refers, but if it refers to all the whiny little b's that complain incessantly about how awful it is to be a while male, then I completely agree.

I'm a white male and my life has always, from birth until today, been incredibly easy in just about every way imaginable. The only time it hasn't been easy is when I've done dumb stuff, made explicit choices, to make it harder.

Blaming others for my own choices would be a total abdication of personal responsibility which I'm not about to do.

People do it with every toot/toke - that's all about escaping.
Nobody responsible tunes-out.

As for "women and minorites" they've been thrown under the bus too - the 2 million foreigners been recruited in just last year are landing right on top of them. Add in the transvestites wrecking women's sports. Looking at polls it seems they've been waking up. Choppin for change

The best part is watching these guys pine for an era of tough, homogenous machismo of which they were never actually a functional part. They wouldn't fit in if it still existed, either.

Definitely prefer the audio of the earlier Hank Williams Jr. intro to the 2018 version.

But I clearly prefer the 70s intro with "Heavy Action" and the incomparable Howard Cosell, Frank Gifford, and Don Meredith. Here's the 1976 season opener for the 49ers at the Steelers.

Edit... dang, you need to go to Youtube to see it. Second link has the audio only, maybe that still works.

Could not stand Howard Cosell, who knew very little about anything but boxing and was an arrogant *** to boot.

I think there are better Hank Williams intros than the one @DJ Spanky posted; the one he posted is too long, as though the producer thought he had to bludgeon people into watching. Here's one I prefer.

dripping in liberal irony

sadly, you turned this into a political discussion again. what I said was actually spot on from a today's marketing perspective but in typical liberaly whiny fashion, you turn it political

you're not even emotionally mature enough to see the hypocrisy and irony in your post.

Huh? I said nothing whatsoever political. I don’t even think in political terms, let alone post that way.

Any political thoughts you’re having are entirely your own and have nothing to do with what I posted.

Take your dumb **** to the CE board and stick to the topic
You ignored the post by the guy who introduced the side-topic. Why didn't you tell him to take his dumb **** to the CE board and stick to the topic?

That was rhetorical. We all know why.

Here are the two posts preceding mine which you apparently were fine with:

too white, too wholesome, too Americana, too sexist

I made an edit for you.
Your edit was to cross out "sexist" and replace it with "male".

Cracks me up how utterly hypocritical and lacking in self-awareness y'all are. Not to mention I STILL haven't said a single political thing. You guys are amazingly oversensitive to having your ridiculous off-topic posts mocked. You can dish it out but you can't take it. Which is so very, very weak.

Perhaps. But still not sure where they got "political" from anything I wrote.

If they want to accuse me of mocking a couple people's posts, then sure, that's what I did and I'm happy to cop to it. Would do it again because the posts were so laughably mock-worthy. 🙂
