He's really coming into his prime. And Moose is a true slugger. He holds the All Time California Prep Single Season and Career HR record. That's an amazing feat when you consider the History of baseball in that State.

He is having a monster year and in a contract year. He is literally adding millions to his next contract. He should have made the all-star team without needing the last fan vote. Nice timing Moose!!! Winking

6 weeks ago, the idea of trading Moustakas (and several other players) was a good one. Today, the Royals are just a game and a half out of first in their division and tied for the 2nd wild card. They've been playing great baseball for several weeks, getting Duffy back and finally seeing Escobar and Gordon contribute on offense. So at this point, the Royals are obviously going to hang on to their guys and make another run at the post-season (barring a total collapse in the next 3 weeks).

It would be foolish to start trading off key pieces on a team already making a run at the playoffs for prospects that may or may not amount to anything. A bird in the hand...

I believe Dayton Moore even said as much as they don't plan to trade away Hosmer, Moose, Cain, or Escobar at the trade deadline because they've "earned the right to play out their contracts" as Royals. Was a month or so ago, can't find the link, not really sure it was necessary to say.

I'm a biased fan, but I think they're going to win the division. The Royals were historically bad in April. They were among the worst All Time Royals teams, for one month, in virtually every category.

This team was never "THAT bad." That result was more smoke and mirrors than a 10 game win streak with type of roster. It surely has some flaws, but its not even close to the all time worst Royals squads. That's almost laughable when you think about it.

Anyway, over the last 60+ games, the Royals are 37 - 24. I think they're going to continue playing .600 baseball and overcome the Indians.

The Indians have a VERY easy schedule in the 2nd half.

1/2 game back in the division. Currently own the 2nd wildcard spot, just a half game behind the 1st WC spot.

Trading Moustakas probably not the best idea right now.

From reports I've read, the Royals organization will likely only keep one of their big 3 free agents between Moose, Hoz & Cain and it sounds like they prefer Hoz of the 3...hoping they make Moose their priority...this has been one of the funnest core group of Royals I ever remember

If they keep one of the three, I would consider it a major coup. All 3 of those guys are going to get paid - a .lot. Cain will be the most affordable, since he will be 32 years old. At one time, there was talk that Moustakas would be the most affordable - but then this year happened.

It would be great if they could sign either Hosmer or Moustakas, but those guys are going to get massive deals somewhere that they won't be able to turn down, and that the Royals likely won't be able to match without crippling the organization.

This team is red hot. Fun to watch right now. They've had 11 different starting pitchers so far this season. Nobody's going anywhere right now (if anyone, I'd sell high on Vargas and get some quality prospects)...quality D, at bats, and they are playing hard. I see a lot more wins in the 2nd half coming-especially if Gordo and Esky start hitting
