I think the "Gentlemen's Club" is closed.Don’t forget to stop in Vaiden
Stafford's is good, I wish Drew wasn't so far out off the way. It’s pretty desolate this time of the year, without any crops growing. The crops are what makes the Delta unique.
March-May brings a mad dash of planting, while summer brings pretty crops with pivots, planes and poly pipe running and fall brings the most beautiful sites of harvest with combines and cotton pickers running.
Other sit down restaurants not mentioned is the Crown in Indianola, Serio’s , What’s Cooking, and Fran and Johnnie’s in Greenwood , Lillo’s in Leland, the Pharm in Ruleville, and Stafford’s in Drew.
Other quick or convenience type food stores is any Double Quick chicken, Fratesi’s Grocery in Leland, Chuck’s in Rolling Fork, Roy’s Store in Chatham on Lake Washington and Nails in Stewart (not in Delta, but the guaranteed best convenience store steak you will ever eat)
Tallahatchie Flats (north of Greenwood) is a cool place to stay. It’s very similar to Shack up in Clarksdale. There is a B and B on Lake Washington also. Can’t remember the name though. The cabins at Leroy Percy park in Hollandale are also pretty neat.
Pecan house closed. they retired I think!Start in Indianola and get some pecans at Indianola Pecan House.
Then head over to Greenville and a must is
Does Eat Place for dinner.
The Belmont or Hotel 27 for the accommodations there that night.
Tamales at Scott’s or Tamale
Heaven -gotta compare those to Doe’s
Next stop head up to Cleveland and go to Airport Grocery for tamales and to Bar Fontaine - a rooftop bar in town.
From there go up to Clarksdale and get tamales at Abe’s.
In Clarksdale, stay at Ground Zero Blues Club above the club or Shack Up Inn
Get dinner at Kathryns on Moon Lake or Hookers Grocery.
Blues music listening at Ground Zero and definitely check our Reds Music Hall while in town.
Too bad the Crystal Grill closed or I would have definitely said start in Greenwood for lunch there.
This will be a great weekend itinerary.
Rick's CaberetI think the "Gentlemen's Club" is closed.
My brother got chased by a peacock there when we were kids.https://www.wistergardens.com/
If you are driving through and looking for an hour to kill time, this is a pretty place in Belzoni. Not much else to do there though.
Cleveland is the jewel of the delta due to DSU and a formally good public school system. Unfortunately decreasing in enrollment at DSU and a federal judge destroying the only successful public school in the Delta, Cleveland will go on a slow decline and eventually become like every other Delta town.Perfect Timing. In all my years living in Miss, never spent time in the Delta. Got a weekend trip to Cleveland end of April.
Closed by fire.I think the "Gentlemen's Club" is closed.
I went in December, not 20 years ago and it was great. Gotta get the roast beef though.Yes you will. This was a true statement 20 years ago
Seriously, I love Ground Zero. Sad to hear it’s closed.I was going to suggest: Go to Spotify/Amazon Music. Download the Delta Blues playlist to listen offline. Go to Skyscanner. Book a flight from Memphis to New Orleans in a window seat. See the Delta out the window while listening to playlist. ***
As is the “Country Music Palace”, ala the 80’s. What a cool place to hang back in the day! Place was huge!I think the "Gentlemen's Club" is closed.
All the bars that were scattered around rural places (like Greenwood, Grenada, Winona, Vaiden, etc.,) up through the 90s, did online gaming/social media kill them off?As is the “Country Music Palace”, ala the 80’s. What a place to hang!
