Amy Tuck

I may have missed the discussion but has anyone heard this? Pretty common knowledge?

Surely not. That would be embarrassing.

Why is this embarrassing? Former lt governor from Starkville who loves the school. Sounds qualified to me even though I admit I don't even exactly know what a university vp does. She's been working at MSU for a few years and I'm assuming she's done a good job. Explain please...

I've got a buddy whose dad was also supposedly havingsome fun with Ms. Tuck. This was probably about 10 years ago. Apparently, they would meet up when they were both in Jackson at the same time for governement functions

Personally not against it, know her well.........this makes no sense if you know what she now does and how her position is funded....

It's embarrassing because:
- she's a former flip-flopper politician who <span style="text-decoration:line-through">had been bought by</span> an unsecured loan from Scruggs
- she's never done anything but feed at the trough of government jobs
- like mentioned above, she's unable to pass the bar and in true ambulance chaser fashion, she SUES
- she's been a beneficiary for far too long in the half-way house that our University seems to be running for former/failed politcians
- and can someone tell us what she does in her current position?

Now she's a special assistant to the president. By you saying "if I knew how it's funded" leads me to believe that she's privately paid through our foundation. Maybe being the university vp is state paid and could greatly improve state retirement. That's my guess. To clarify, all these concerns weren't asked, just a "congrats"

someone, apparently Keenum (or someone or some people with influence close to him), think she will be useful at the legislature.

since she was at least 0-3 on bar exams.

And that's why it would be beyond embarrassing to make her VP. The BAR exam, while not easy, is not designed to fail candidates. It is designed to keep unqualified, potentially dangerously incompetent candidates off the bench. No way in hell to spin Amy Tuck's academic weakness in a positive manner. No thank you.

I find this an interesting development if it is true...by-the-way, another board mentioned it today..must be something there...<div>Many on here are way "smarter" than I on the "inside" stories at MSU, so I read a lot but rarely post....can't help myself on this one though....</div><div>I can't see her being able to do any more as a VP (thought the no terminal degree makes this unlikely IMHO, especially in today's environment in MSU Administration) than she can do now. In fact, I've been told there are political/legislative reasons Keenum doesn't want or need her to be more publicly involved with that process. Better to have her behind the scenes. Not saying they are valid...I think if I were in his shoes, I'd sack-up and tell some folks to get over it. Much as some may think otherwise, she is a good advocate and pretty dang effective at certain efforts. I'd rather have her on our side than opposite. But, that's just me...</div><div>

"pretty dang effective at certain efforts". I laughed at that one. I should be ashamed.
