I wanted to thank everyone on here that responded when I posted that my wife, my sister and I would be her caregivers a year and a half ago. Being a caregiver was an amazing experience and it helps you to realize the importance of relationships over material objects. My mother was 89 years old and would have reached 90 if she has lived until January. God bless the caregivers on here because it does stress you out but the rewards far outweigh the negatives.

Condolences.

My mom is 90 and still kicking *** and taking names.

My MIL is 80, in poor health, eats a terrible diet, but will probably live into her 90s. Taking care of her is like having a full grown toddler with money and an iPhone.

Sorry for your loss.
My parents took in my grandfather this year. He made it to 94 on his own but my parents were going over every weekend and Dad wasn’t sleeping well worried about him.
He fell off a step ladder and couldn’t get up for a while and finally caved.
Got a picture on my wall of him running a chainsaw on his 91st birthday.

Thoughts and prayers to you and yours. That you assumed the role of caregiver is very commendable, that’s a burden not everyone can take on.

Condolences and job well done to the caregivers who sacrificed on her behalf. Mine is slipping away via Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia. My dad is the primary caregiver right now and it’s not easy but a blessing that he can.

I'm so sorry for your loss @Ranchdawg

you are right, there is no greater reward in life than serving a ailing parent in their last years. I'm forever grateful I was able to do that for my dad.....and with my son along side of me.

grief is a ebb and flow after the loss of a parent....let in come, but always push back the tears with the great memories I'm sure you have that make you smile
