Me and my friends do a live fantasy football draft every year and have decided on New Orleans this year. We have traditionally kept it classy and done the draft at Hooters but were looking to do something different this year. So I'm looking for sports bars or anything where we can drink as many beers as possible and hopefully draft Aaron Hernandez and Boobie in the first round. We don't really want to leave the French Quarter area but we will if we have to.....suggestions?

I once met some people at a place called Tracey's, which I think was on Magazine. I was only there for a few hours once, but there were a lot of TVs and there was beer. I also liked the Bulldog, also on Magazine, but I'm not sure that would be a great location for a fantasy football draft.

I'd be interested in your ****-ton of assistance as long as its not too far. We don't mind taking a cab just as long as its not 20 minutes away

Cooter Brown's just off St. Charles on South Carrollton. About 8 billion different beers on the menu, great raw oysters, and the Radiator Special is tremendous. It's nowhere near the French Quarter, but the French Quarter is the worst part of town anyway.

^^^This^^^ They dont advertise as a sports bar but it's always packed on gameday

I usually make 10 state football games a year, but if I don't I go watch at Tracey's. Great atmosphere and some pretty damn good food. Nice beer selection as well.

Here's a few that would be within 10 minutes of downtown

Uptown
Bruno's - Good all american sports bar in the Tulane area. Plenty of tables. Pool, darts, shuffle board.
Cooter Brown's - Tavern with a great draft beer selection and oyster bar. Skip the oysters since they're not in season and get one of the philly's from the kitchen. Accessible by the St. Charles street car line from downtown. 2 Pool tables, huge *** TV, lots of tables and chairs.
Fat Harry's - Just a good neighborhood bar. Kitchen is closed due to a fire they had at the end of last year but I can't make a bar list without mentioning these guys. Recently remodeled. Had a great MSU crowd their for the CWS games and they like to see state fans. Can take the St. Charles Street car. Shuffleboard.
45 Tchoup - neighborhood bar where a lot of locals hang out.
Henry's - Cheap beer. Cash only. You usually can get in on a cornhole game out on the sidewalk.
St. Joe's - This is actually a terrible place for your draft because of limited seating but the Dark and Stormy is one fine drink.

Garden District
Tracey's - Irish Pub / Sports Bar with good po-boys. Can be hipster-ish at times; but if it is then bulldog is a short walk and usually smells less like armpits. The misfits do usually confine themselves to the end of the bar closest the pool table though.
Bulldog - The patio is nice if the weather isn't brutally hot. Tables inside only seat about 4-5 people and their aren't that many at that.
Avenue Pub - Greatest place outside of Belgium if your a beer snob. Overpriced if your not. You can take the St. Charles line again for this one.
Dat Dog (magazine location) - Awesome hotdogs, good bar, large patio with fans, indoor seating as well.
Balcony Bar - The unclean hang out downstairs but the upstairs is nice and has a balcony... surprisingly.

Mid-City
Shamrock - An adult arcade. Ping-pong, darts, skeeball, pop-a-shot, shuffle board, air hockey, ****** food and slutty bartenders. Just don't stay too late after dark since it's near Tulane & Broad.
Bayou Beer Garden - Good bar with a huge patio full of mist fans. A lot of people choose this place for parties and meetings like the one your having.
Bulldog (mid-city) - patio is a little more shaded than the one on Magazine.
Finn McCool's - Best Irish Pub in the city if you're into that.

And when it gets to be about 2:30 a.m. catch a cab to Snake & Jake's Christmas Club Lounge - don't ask questions, just go.

When you get to Snake and Jake's and your thinking "this can't be the place he meant" then you know you are at the right place.
