Lol wtf are they even doing at this point? Sending Schmid down to "see game action" for Poulter? So they're really going throw this kid at the red hot Rangers tomorrow night? As with everything this year, Lindy made this a mess. Why not start Schmid last night and play Daws vs. the Rags? That's going to be some scene in front of 11K Ranger fans.

18-8-1 is probably what it'll take to get to the playoffs. Fitz should not mortgage future assets in hopes that they can rally for the privilege of getting steamrolled by BOS or NYR in the ECQF. The time to do it was 6 weeks ago.

Solid points.

Season is a train wreck.
Even Jack is playing like crap

Long season and lot of it is still in front of them. I get the criticisms, but none of the PHI, DET, NYI, PIT, WAS combination is very intimidating over a 25 game stretch. I still think they make it, AND, see them winning Thursday as jump start to getting their game back.

They Always play very well at home vs. NYR.

Getting back to Timo.

I cannot recall a worse major trade in team history.

The ramifications of this deal will be felt for years unless we wisely cut our losses and deal him for a nice package.

Devils are stuck with this bum

Grabner trade, Schneider trade, and Ruuttu trade off the top of my head were terrible trades in recent history. Lets give this more than a year and wait til Timo gets healthy before crowning it one of the worst trades in team history.

Doug Gilmour was bad in the 90's, and Phil Housely! Give Timo at least 1 healthy season IMO.

Fitz has a mind of his own. I'm not sure of the exact cost, but Nick V. of Pucks and Pitchforks thinks the Devils are about to trade for- Markstrom of the Flames!

Must be great to have absolute job security no matter what.

Schneider the only major trade out of those

Bruh, Gilmour was Gretzky with us compared to Timo so far.

If we give up Holtz we will see him go on to be an excellent goal scorer. Keep him!

You just told us you didn’t watch the Devils in ‘97/98 without actually saying it

When you’re ready to have real talk hmu
I won’t participate in that silliness

Do not realize Timo is not healthy?! He has one less goal - playing with an injury - than a guy who you just said was "Gretzky" as a Devil.

Cmon, man. Give Timo some time.

Disagree about Dougie, I think Timo deserves more time. If he stays healthy, and doesn't break out, then trade him. He will still have good value.

I don't want this trade, but Holtz is just one of a few young players Fitz better not trade. Mercer, Nemac, and Bahl to name a few.

I’d do this blockbuster - I’m not sure Calgary would

To NJ: Markstrom, Hannifin and Coleman
To Calgary: 1st round pick, Vitek, Siegenthaler, Hatakka and Stillman

Time is up after not even a full season??

OK...weird opinion.

Based on what you’ve seen from him, you really think he is all of a sudden turn things around? You’ll be waiting a long time to see the same old Timo. He’s a very limited player , a glorified banger.

He’s not a play driver that makes his teammates better - like Dougie Gilmour was as a Devil.

Dougie was great here except when he took the cross check from Messier to his face in 97 and didn’t fight back.

Around that time, I was once behind Gilmour in line at a pizza joint in West Orange. Was surprised on how small he was. Mess may have got the better of him that day, but pound for pound Gilmour was a pretty tough customer and a hell of a pro.

People were screaming about Hamilton his first year here too. Timo's had a rough year, but let's not pretend he's been done any favors by this coaching staff:
  • Playing on the 3rd line. Recently with Lazar and Mercer. I've loved what Lazar has brought this year, but he is not a 3rd liner on a competitor. He barely cracked last year's lineup. Mercer's play this year has been absent at best and dreadful at worst.
  • Playing on his wrong side. This guy is being paid $8.8M (highest paid forward) and he's being shoehorned into a position that he's clearly not comfortable in here. Ruff has guys playing out of position all the time and it's mind boggling - see Mercer.
  • No PP time. If you take out that double minor they scored 2x on vs. MTL in January, the PP is 2 for its last 55. That's 3.6%. We can't see this guy positioned on the RIGHT side of the ice on a PP? He averaged 18 pts/year on the PP his last 3 years coming in. Ruff can't find a spot for him out there?
  • Rushed back from injury. Ruff admitted that they brought him back too soon from that first injury because he wanted to play vs. SJ. Moronic. He then got hurt again with an injury that didn't allow him to skate. The injuries have played a big factor here.
Long term, I'm not worried about him at all. 40-goal scorers don't just completely fall off at 27. He's consistently improved throughout his career until running into a brick wall here. With different leadership next year, he'll be fine.

He was a disappointment last season too

I appreciate your post though, you put some effort into it.

He was listed at 175 but prob closer to 160.

For the team psyche he needed to respond to Messier but didn’t. That was an awful series

Two home games on consecutive days is kinda odd.

If we win the next 3 games I’ll change my signature to :
