To make the playoffs.

You’re a hockey fan - you know once playoffs start - it’s a whole new season and anyone has a chance.

Devils won’t give up that chance.
I get its one game but this team is abysmal. Pretending they have a shot at anything is laughable. Shouldve been sellers

There were plenty of guys available, like O'Reilly, Schenn, or Boeser. Fitz/ ownership did the same thing last year. Not to mention a 2nd for a 3rd pair defenseman. Be happy your a Rangers fan. Fitz called about Rantenan and Petterson, neither player I would want. Although not as good as a few years ago we still had potentially Nemec, Mercer, Casey, future 1st round picks, and other early round picks for actual help. Look at what other GMs did, the Devils should have done better.
Zero of the guys u mentioned got moved. There GMs said it would take a massive overpayment to move Schenn or Oreilly. Both turned down Toronto

Just examples during another great game. There were many more. For example I would rather have Tanev than pay that price for BD. Not to mention Norris for a 4th.

Norris was part of the cozens trade . What you talking about. NJ needed a D with Siegs out and Hamilton out .

The Devils get an F, this was a terrible job. For what we paid I would have rather seen Hatakka. This team needed to get Palat and Tatar out of the top 6, and Dowling out of the lineup, as well as a veteran D man. Can't win if you can't score more than 1.

Dude you’re all over the place . Norris for a 4th . Lie . Complaining about BD and then saying we need a veteran D in the next post 😂😂😂. Hatakka had major shoulder surgery and hasn’t played . Glass is gonna replace Dowling once he gets to NJ . You keep talking about what ifs .

The price paid for the D is annoying. I'm not a fan of what was done, no disconnect, we just see it differently. I now have lost faith in us winning because of bad, cheap ownership. I hope I'm wrong, but doubt it.

I wish Fitz gave up the 2nd for Nyqyist and/ or got in on Sturm for example.
Nyquist sturm tanev glass are all similar bottom 6 fodder with no real scoring ability . Glass is at least a 6’3 center that’s RFA after the season. There’s no big difference in any of these guys

Luke Schenn was traded for a second and a 4th. Soucy went for a 3rd . BD was a second with retention . Those are the going rates for veteran dmsn

I’m just as disappointed as everyone else bc they didn’t take a big swing . But if there’s no realistic big swings to make how can you be mad ?

Retention why?... to save our cheap *** owners money. Sprong for instance has been in the AHL lol. Nico has been here for 8 years, 2 playoffs only 1 series win. Oh but the future bright. No these owners don't care about winning.

Very bad. Agree…lol.

I’ll say again - every team has a shot in the playoffs,

Do I think they have a legitimate shot? Nope. But crazier things have happened. Sneak in and see what happens,

They weren’t gonna sell. Selling says to Meier, Luke, Bratt, Hischier that there’s no faith in them. Sets a terrible precedent.

As a Ranger fan I can understand Devils management not wanting to make a big commitment to these playoffs with Hughes out.

Still, the path for the Devils if they shored things up appeared to be a weakened Hurricanes team followed by a Caps team that is good but nowhere near unbeatable.

It seems like they sure wanted to, they just failed. And that’s 1000% on Fitz.

Cotter a healthy scratch and Allen starting over Marky today. This only makes sense to me if your tanking.

Not for nothing, did you see what Fabien Zetterlund was traded for, what a damn joke.

Suddenly the devils are scoring. Was Cody glass a steal?!
Potentially.

He already looks to be a good defensive center. He also has some offensive skills, although that has not yet materialized in terms of production in the NHL. One thing I do like about his stat line is he does get shots off at a pretty good rate. A good defensive center who can get shots on net is a good combo. I think there is a legit chance he can put it together to be a pretty decent 3rd line center.

Sidenote: I thought Sprong looked good in his first game. Didn't seem to fit the scouting report of a talented player who doesn't play the game the right way. I thought he got after it pretty good. Wasn't thrilled he was scratched this past game. For a 7th rnd pick I thought this was a good move.

In agreement we overpaid for Doom, but that was a position of clear need.

Yeah a 6’4 21 year old center and a 2nd . Now the sharks are set at center for the next 5 -7 years. I thought the same thing until i read this article
https://www.mercurynews.com/2025/03...eadline-fabian-zetterlund-zack-ostapchuk/amp/
I dunno, that 21 year old center hasn't done a whole lot. 4 points in 43 games in the NHL this season. Very meh production in the AHL. Even his juniors production is unimpressive. Maybe there is upside there, but saying the Sharks are now set at center is a stretch.

With Celebrini (18) will smith (19) and the acquisition of Ostapchuk (21) they are in pretty dam good shape down the middle .Did you look at his whole stat sheet ? 86 hits and 50% on draws as a 21 year old in 43 games this season . 6’4 212 . Looks like a nice bottom 6 center in the making with Celebrini and Smith as the top 2 .

Maybe, but 1 goal in 43 games this season?

Averaging 3 shots per 60 5v5?

Just brutal on ice numbers as well. Pretty much the worst on the team. Despite what looks like fairly easy deployment.

This guy is a significant long shot at this point.

Grier thinks other wise . That’s why he made the trade . Time will tell

And Staios considered him expendable.

But yes, player development is not in a straight line, so who knows with this kid. I don't rule out him becoming a player, but at this point it's not like he's an enticing young prospect.

Should also be noted I don't see Zetterlund as a major addition for Ottawa. Solid, sure, but he's a good 3rd liner at best.

Nemec back in tonight. Vs a dangerous oilers offense. Uh oh.
Hopefully his head is on straight.

But i have no use for Cholowski(or whatever his name is) especially on his off hand.

So Im good with this.

Biggest win of season?? Possibly.

Team looks completely different since two weeks ago. Deadline additions? Loss of Jack? Mrs. Fields?? lol.

8 point lead over Columbus. Huge night!
Wish I could have seen it. I see we scored 2 in the 3rd but were peppered in terms of shots in the 3rd.

Big night for Jesper.

Big night for Allen, who has been rolling.

Glass not on the score sheet, but looks like 3 sog's, 3 more shot attempts, and a +1. Pretty much the best on ice numbers on the team.

Our power play is better without Jack. We have been able to enter the zone & set up. Jack went flying down the middle & more often than not lost the puck , way to helter skelter.

Defense goaltending and timely goal scoring . Did a good job screening on last 2 goals. Not every goal has to be pretty . Felt like oilers blocked 30 shots. Sat on the glass right behind goal devils shoot twice both games this week . Well worth it
