Is Secaucus transfer station still a decent hub? That place has the oddest use (waste) of space I’ve ever seen in a train station…

Way too many times, the failing NJ Transit system is on a service holiday.

Why would they offer a fare holiday while they’ve been struggling financially?!
Doesn’t make any sense.
just make the trains better , on time, faster , and the stations /hubs seem more like a first world country

Might be trying to get people that don't use it to give it a try and like it enough to start using it .
Bringing in new customers and getting those who stopped to ride again probably is the reason

They’re going to love being stuck on the NEC train for 30 minutes at a time in the middle of nowhere by Princeton…

Or the 50% of the Riverline schedule being canceled almost everyday…

Or catching two trains and a “shuttle bus” on the HBLR on almost every weekend for a trip that usually take 20 minutes Monday thru Friday.

looks like NJ Transit will be proving that hopping on would be a bad thing and even a free fare won't bring smiles

Yes things suck. Stock Market are record levels, GNP record growth, Unemployment at low levels, crime is down.

Stock market is a taxpayer backed, wealth transfer bubble run on accounting fraud
GDP rises and unemployment shrinks are always inflated (spesh for elections) and get revised.
Any real jobs going mostly to foreign born
Crime isn't down - just the reporting is.
Add in "the border is secure" and "Ukraine is winning"
They lie about everything

Agree about lying. Let’s also add that monies desperately needed to fix and perhaps dare improve our infrastructure continues to go out in the billions to the supposed “ally”. Our taxes.

Basic Info (Jul 11, 2024). US Inflation Rate is at 2.89%, compared to 2.97% last month and 3.18% last year. This is lower than the long term average of 3.28%.
Looks like you noticed how things are improving.
Stimulus check did drive up inflation to the 2022 level, but those checks were needed after the economy crashed and people were having financial trouble before the 2020 election.
After that election sound economic policies took away that sting, though it was a slow process as the 2022 inflation rate shown , and brought it down to an acceptable level by 2024
Consider those stimulus checks as an investment to help Americans survive the economic disaster
that they needed help surviving.

But this is a transit thread and from what I gather the NJ Transit system might be given free rides to show why it's not a good idea to use it if you have other choices that won't break your budget 😀
