I was ready to jump off the ledge at one point and move back to Mississippi (Jackson to be specific) and work at Best Buy before 99.9% ruled against it and it paid off.

Accepted a job at a startup created by 2 Harvard MBA students that recently received $45m in funding, and they're allowing me to create a bunch of company procedures as far as my area goes. It's in 2 cities right now but it could go global next year, so obviously I feel like it's a good company to attach my wagon to.

I will say, I was 1 foot in the door... I borrowed the money from my parents, I secured a place to stay... And you all convinced me that was a bad idea.

So thank you. I had heard it takes almost a year to get a "job" job out of college and that was almost the case. Almost lost track.

See you all August 30!

Like the sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Esplanade's Life.

In all seriousness, glad to hear you are gainfully employed in a potential career and not just a job. I can imagine there is very little in life more frustrating than not being able to get a 'good' job. Quite the hit to one's confidence and self-esteem.
I was even almost looking forward to your threads about how terrible Jackson is for a recent college grad without experience who cant get experience.

Congrats on going for it. It may turn into a lifelong career or you may end up moving back to MS after all in a couple years. Either way, this sounds like something that you might have regretted not giving a shot down the road, so it's good to hear that you're taking the opportunity.

I'm not the oldest guy in the world so take this for what it's worth, but assuming that you're about 23 and fresh out of college, I can safely say that your life is going to take about a hundred different turns in the next ten years. Don't sweat all the folks that coasted into jobs out of college or the ones telling you how things should be. Things have a way of working themselves out more times than not, and if I was betting man, I'd bet that you'll be looking back on this point in your life in about ten years and laughing about how nervous you were.

Good luck and go tear it up
