So my son and I adjusted our trip. We are doing Saturday and Sunday games instead of Friday/Saturday.

Have two tickets now for the Friday 3/21 game against the Cardinals. Section 105. $32.

I like Montas upside over Quintana. Iglesias over Madrigal fine by me but still seems like that ship has sailed.

Uncle Steve said that it’s OK for me to finally start thinking that way with this team, lol
I do believe this though: If Stearns says to Cohen, "We MUST sign this guy", Cohen says OK. I do not think Stearns has said that - yet.

Canario has big bat speed/power and not much else. He is out of options though so interesting to put the claim in. As mentioned could be Marte trade or just see how the he looks the rest of ST and go from there.

I read Mets would prefer to have the last spot on the bench to still have minor league options for flexibility. That would rule out Iglesias as an option.

Glad we didn't just sign OMG...
Sarcasm?

Iglesias came off a career year. He will not repeat it. Remember we are talking about the last spot on the bench. I am just as happy with Baty and Acuna competing for that role, with Mauricio joining the mix in mid-April, and likely Jett Williams at mid-season.

Now if the Mets can somehow move Marte and/or McNeil, that's a different story.

Doc must have a crystal ball.😁 The odds are against Iglesias, but today with all the analytics, who to say he couldn't have another solid season. I think it's more about the money Iglesias wants.

He isn’t a .340 hitter but his defense alone warrants a job. And we desperately need a guy that can backup the infield spots and with that said, he really isn’t all that expensive. It’s all about him having no minor league options.

He is 110% more so the incremental improvement if any from him to Acuna doesn't make much sense.

And the fact they paid the guy who got hurt and he was under the Medosa line.
As a team, we need McNeil to even just be a .280 hitter. Taylor/Siri batting 9th doesn’t bother me at all. Marte/Winker combine for .270 and 15 HR and a guy like OMG becomes just a great guy to have on the team.

It is quite possible that in 2024, Iglesias will have a career average season. That would a 91 OPS+, which by definition is below MLB average. For a glove-first utility player, a 91 OPS+ is quite acceptable.

But there is no way on God's green earth that he is repeating last year's offensive output. I say that BECAUSE of the analytics.

We do not have a 105 scholarship limit. Acquiring Iglesias means a younger player with a higher ceiling doesn't get a shot.

Again, if you can somehow move Marte or McNeil, I will change my tune.
