I agree I want the best bat available, preferably for CF (or 3rd base if vientos/baty/mauricio can't improve).

I do think we need a lefty bullpen arm, or a righty who can get lefties out. Our bullpen is showing warts big time
The good thing is that Baty and Mauricio seem to be doing better of late.

Transactions du jour:

As expected, Kodai Senga activated and will start tonight. Justin Hagenman optioned to Syracuse and Rico Garcia DFA'd. The latter is somewhat surprising since he seemed to be the only one of the second-line relievers who was actually getting batters out. Austin Warren, who was up yesterday as 27th man, stays around for now.

Jesse Winker to IL, Jared Young is back.

Also Mendoza said Marte's knee is healing nicely, and he is expected to return right after the All-Star break.

We need Lindor and Alonso to get back on track. Soto and Nimmo have been carrying this team of late. If all 4 guys could be consistent together, we could actually get by with the rest of the team.
Would still like to see a bat come in and a BP arm or 2.

I here people talking about Suarez for a team like the Yanks- would he be a realistic target for us for 3B?

On another note- Mr. Soto has all of a sudden shut up a lot of haters. If he keeps going as he has been- he could quietly sneak into the MVP consideration...just saying

Need vientos to hit

7-8-9 need to be fixed. Can’t have 3 of the same hitters. LOW average AND No power

210-220 and 8 HR for an entire season won’t work. Mauricio has most potential but I still have no idea why anyone would throw him a fastball. Too many 58foot Swinging strike 3’s from Ronnie.

McNeil can hit 275-280 with 10-15 HR and every game have one of those annoying 9 pitch at bats where he fouls off 4-5 in a row.

Baty is stuck in the 230 range with 10 HR for season. Still waiting for a full 10-14 game stretch for him , not just a good weekend then back to a 2-19 slump.

Vientos is so frustrating , he looked like an all-star during high pressure playoff games vs Phillies and Dodgers .
Now we hope last nights double isn’t the 1 in his 1 for 15 streak.

World Series championship goal. 40 years is too damn long.

someone is going to get traded that is going to hurt. Get over it , I’ll trade another PCA if I can buy 10 Mets 2025 Champions T-shirts , 2-3 Sweatshirts and a few hats that I will wear every damn day in south jersey AKA Phillies country.

Tong with a 19 pitch one two three inning in the Futures Game. One strike out, one hard hit line out to short, one ground out to short.

At this point- Soto not on the AS team may be the biggest snub of all time. If there is a single replacement tomorrow- it has to be him.

The problem for Soto is that he was cold for a very long time. Then he got crazy hot for a shorter time. His numbers are terrific, but that history leaves an opening for precisely what happened to him.

The kid's hitting home runs but barely hitting over .200 and has struck out 22 times in just over 60 ABs. He needs to figure out how to make more contact and not swing at too many pitches out of the strike zone. His overall performance at least suggests that he hasn't learned that.

This is one reason that I'm not much of a fan of these online fan sites that often seem to be run by young fanboys.

Railey 9 inning scoreless streak with 13 K’s
Why the F is he still in AAA ?

I’m gonna guess he’s on roster the first game after all star break. Don’t want him to sit around and not get any live game action during break ???

I would add my theory, which is obviously unprovable: Soto's contract set the expectations bar to a new high, for all voters, both fans and players. When he did not meet those expectations, he was punished.

Your guess is correct, but not for that reason. The minor league affiliates take the same all Star break that the Mets do.

After the break, Raley MUST either be activated or released (the latter is not happening). The reason is that his 30 day rehab period will have expired. The only other alternative is for the Mets to request an extension. That would require that Raley attest that he is not yet at full health. That too is not happening.

With the 38th pick, Mets draft Luke Voit, a 20 year old Michigan Wolverine. He is listed as a two way player, but from what I have read he is now a full time 2B.

Mets forfeited their 2nd round pick due to Juan Soto signing.

With their 3rd round pick (#102 overall) Mets draft a SS from UCF named Antonio Jimenez.

And sometimes, it's just a numbers game with other guys having really good years. Throw in the requirement that every team is represented and you get snubs. This one is tough though. I think, in general, fans would rather see Soto there than Kyle Stowers. I'm not a Mets fan and I'd rather see Soto. Now watch, Stowers will go on and destroy my team for the remainder of his career.

Stowers is a guy that deserves it. Tatis and Carroll do not. They are having ok years but Soto is blowing those 2 guys away in almost every way possible. Soto is screwed by his contract. Even if he did have a slow start- Carroll and Tatis have had same size stretches of games this year where they sucked too.
