I’m here. The Wright stuff was fantastic. The game not so much.
I’m afraid this team just isn’t very good. Any magic they had last year has not been found in 2025

This team may not be a playoff team. They don’t hit with runners in scoring position and had the same problem last year. They got hot at the end of last year which saved them. The other issue is their middle relief pitching which sucks. Their starters rarely eclipse 5 innings which results in terrible pitching in the 6th, 7th innings. The infield defense is shaky.

It’s time to promote Alvarez.

Stearns needs to make some critical upgrades at the deadline.

Need a CF / Bullpen and a SP.

20 pass balls in his time at Syracuse, what has happened to his defense? Has his offense effected his defense like Gary Sanchez?
According to Baseball Reference, Alvarez has four passed balls in 14 games as a catcher. That is way too many, but not nearly as bad as you thought. He has three errors, which is not good. Caught stealing rate of 27% is OK.

When he was here, Alvarez seemed to be so hung up on framing, that it became a priority over catching the ball. That may still be the case.

Offensively he seems to have turned it around. 20 games (including six as DH or PH), 82 plate appearances, 71 official at-bats, 10 homers (Yay!), OPS 1.098. 25 strikeouts which is still too high, but when he hits it, he is doing damage.

His numbers suggest he should be promoted now, but we aren't seeing the eye test, which the decision makers are.

Mets win
Angles 8-2 in the 7th

could be a half game out during a 11 and 20 stretch of horrible baseball

view one …told you not to worry

view two. If we didn’t blow 7-10 games with horrendous spot starters and a dog 💩 cast of nobody relievers Mets would be 7 games up

Interesting story in Syracuse today. Alvarez started at DH and hit ANOTHER homer, that's 11 in 21 games! He was then pinch-hit for later in the game. I wonder if Stearns sent the message to get him out of there because he's coming back to NYC.

Also, Butto with another clean inning.

I'll get back at it tomorrow! They were mostly on break as well when the majors had the ASB.

Lots of great pitching still and bats performing well. Couple of promotions like Chris Suero to AA.

Will post today's game stats tomorrow morning.

Welcome back. :)

Edgar Moreta is out for the year after having TJ. I believe Zach Thornton is also having had TJ so he will be done for the year as well. Matt Allan has another arm injury and is also likely done for the season and maybe career. Sad but his arm wasn't meant to hold up to this I guess.

Benge and Reimer have continued to hit in AA.

I could add like 5-10 more pitchers both SP and RP that are pitching well in the system and have good reports. I'll hold off on that until after the trade deadline because I have a feeling some of that depth will start to be dealt away.

For all you fans who were heartbroken when Rico Garcia was DFA'd, rejoice! He's back. Yanks dumped him after one appearance and Mets reclaimed him on waivers. No word yet on who is getting demoted.

In other news:

* Richard Lovelady cleared waivers and accepted assignment to Syracuse. So we may see him again too!

* Hayden Senger optioned to Syracuse to make room for Alvarez. No surprise there.

* Paul Blackburn to begin a rehab assignment tonight.

Blackburn has already one or two rehab games. He's just continuing.

Nice win! I was about to write a “this team sucks” post down 5-2 looking lifeless. Way to rally and need to give the pen some kudos. Nice to keep pace with the phils

The top 4 - Jett/Tong/Benge/McLean should be our untouchables. Hope to see them all get a chance in the spring next year.

Agree. But you can't keep all the young arms. The question is - which ones do you trade?

They say you can't have too much pitching. But in a way, you can - if you have an unbalanced organizational depth chart, with a surplus in one area and a deficiency in another.

Crazy at the lower levels how many more pitchers are on the roster compared to position players.

Saw the score was 5-2 and started watching videos on YouTube before going to bed. Checked the final score before going to bed and had to do a double take that I was reading it right. If I had watched, this wouldn't have happened. You're welcome.

Man, Lindor watches a breaking ball over the middle of the plate, then swings at 2 that were nowhere close. He is lost right now
