Serrano and Baro picked up so me leg injuries so they're going to miss the rest of the season. A bit of a disappointing year for Baro as a lot of people thought he would have the kind of breakout that Ewing and Reimer had. Now that doesn't mean that it still can't come as he just turned 21 this week and scouts love his tools.

I am loving the Tong hype- This kid looks like a little leaguer the first time he steps out of the concourse for his first real game and sees all that green. I swear- It is so cool to see this kid and the pure joy on his face.

And I can't remember the last player coming up that the Met's have promoted before their first start so much. Makes me feel that they really believe in what they are seeing from this kid. I hope it all lives up to the hopes and hype. He looks like a kid who we should love to have on the team for a long time. Great personality!

Tong wasn’t overly sharp or dominant but glad he got through 5 and hopefully the Mets can secure him his first win.
defense didn’t help him much either, some soft hits.

Back to back 25 min innings with pitching changes most likely messed up some of his rhythm

At least if you're going to put in a position player, he can try to pitch for real instead of tossing home run contest balls

This is a joke

Speaking of jokes , just saw this

At the time (2024), Olney's take was not crazy. The top end Met prospects were all position players. The top pitching prospect was Christian Scott at #5. Then Blad Tidwell at #10. Brandon Sproat was #13, Nolan McLean was #19, and Jonah Tong was unranked. No one expected the latter two to make the bigs in just one year

Crazy offensive OPS numbers over the past month - 1B Alonso .964 2B - Baty .980 SS - Lindor 1.013 3B - Vientos .996 LF - Nimmo .798 CF - McNeil .763 RF - Soto .934 DH - Marte .838 C Alvarez 1.059/Torrens .727 even Taylor is at .941 Mullins: .667

It also shows just how bad our pitching was during that time

I normally am not fond of the six man rotation because it leaves you one short in the bullpen. But the Mets can add another pitcher on Monday, so that concern is mitigated.
At this point, I would rather just see Holmes in the BP for a while but since Senga needs that extra day, we may as well go 6 men. And after Tong's start - it would be criminal to not keep him starting. What I like with both McLean and Tong - they both showed they can pitch in big spots in NY. That is huge. I can't remember such anticipation and amped up crowd for a rookie first start in a very long time. It was like a playoff game and McLean had the "must win" gem against the Phil's...

So glad that the shoddy defense in the 5th didn't cost this kid the win because those errors were terrible. Especially Lindor's. What are you even trying to come across the bag for when you had zero shot at 2 with Edwards running. Tong should have been out of that inning with his pitch count still in the 80's.

A question for anyone who cares to comment: At this point, who are the untouchables? I would say four: Benge, McLean, Tong, and Pena. Anyone else, I'd be willing to listen to trade offers. Thoughts?

Agree with the list plus Jett and looks like Reimer may be a player too. Just don’t know if untouchable
I think Jett falls into nearly untouchable. Maybe more because he is going to be a guy that we can’t wait to see up here.
I think Sproat may be a guy I would trade if it was for tge right package

My thoughts on the Mets starting rotation for the rest of the "regular" season. #1 Peterson, #2 McLean, #3 Holmes, #4 {Manaea/Senga 4 innings each} #5 Tong. Megill to long relief and we need to settle on the 7th and 8th inning guys.
