Another crappy Super Bowl so it is good that the best 3 word phrase is now coming for the NY Yankees this Thursday. PITCHERS AND CATCHERS!
First Spring Training game a week from Friday 2/20/26.
Opening Day on the road. Wednesday 3/25/26 against the SF Giants.
HOME OPENER in the big ballpark in the Bronx. Friday April 3rd against the Miami Marlin's.
Winter is over!!

Real glad John Flaherty is gone. Couldn't stand him.
Also pleased that we're gonna get more of David Cone's perspective.

Sounds like the pitching is going to be a strength in the near future. A lot of the young kids are on the cusp of being ready. If Hal really wants to get under the luxury tax, this is gonna be the way to do it, not trading for washed up dudes.

Rely on those young arms and of course, fire Cashman. :)

Yanks may have as many as 11 Viable rotation starting options throughout 2026. Wondering if they flip a couple of these guys to the pen or as trade bait near the deadline.

Here's the list including where I think they fall in the rotation options. If all healthy in the post season, consider that someone like Rodon would be the 4th option as a starter and the rotation would be R/L/R/L.....

Post Season Starters......Cole, Fried, Schlittler, Rodon

  • Max Fried (L) - 1
  • Cam Schlittler (R) - 2-3
  • Will Warren (R) - 5
  • Ryan Weathers (L) - 3-4
  • Luis Gil (R)- 4/5
Current Injured (May/June)
  • Gerrit Cole (R) - 1
  • Carlos Rodón (L) - 2-3
  • Clarke Schmidt (R) - likely late Season- 4-5
Prospects/Other:
  • Ryan Yarbrough (L) Swingman
  • Elmer Rodriguez (R)
  • Carlos Lagrange (R)
My predictions.......I think ultimately they may decide to move Gil to the pen in a leverage/short role. Weathers and Warren will compete as #5 starters, Lagrange will be a late year callup, Rodriquez will stay in the minors, Schmidt will have setbacks and struggle coming back. Rodon will not be a factor until after the All-Star break. Couple guys will have some minor injuries along the way to be filled in by Yarborough & Weathers/Warren combo.

I think Rodon is expected back before May 1st.
And that Rodriguez or Lagrange will be in the starting rotation by midseason.
If Cole comes back anywhere near peak form this rotation could be dominant.

Hess is about ready too. I think it's inevitable that they flip a kid or two for a big stick at some point this season.

Feel good about the starters, but not the bullpen.
I think some of these young kids would benefit from starting in the bullpen and then eventually making their way to the rotation. I hope they start giving some big league experience to some of these kids even if starts their clock on service time.

Gotta love the power so far in Spring Training. If he can just cut down on the K's, he'll be getting his shot at the big leagues very soon.

Lagrange looks like the real thing.

With the WBC going on, the best of the minor leagues will fill in the many regulars that are playing in the WBC. Should get a good look at these guys!

I'm sure Grisham will have a couple of big games during the season, but I'm betting Cashman will regret re signing him.

I'm sure he regrets signing him right now. He played with fire and got burned by giving him the offer. It's a sunk cost now, if Jones plays well in Triple A, they should just bring him up and not worry about Grisham. He has 22 million reasons not to have hurt feelings if he doesn't play well.

So, fire Cashman for this signing? :)

Why does this bother you? It's just another sponsor.
It doesn't bother me, I find it funny. In fact it might help the team. On a long losing`streak, Boone, every Yankees favorite manager will have another tool to stop the bleeding. Come on, it's Opening Day, I love baseball and in a great mood after a horrible winter. Lighten up. ⚾

Money talks, just another sport sellout. Nothing bigger than Opening Day in baseball. If it isn't the NIL ruining college sports it's all these streaming services, Opening Day Games, Friday Night Games, WTF!

Yeah, not a big fan of all the different streamers taking a bite, plus MLB's weird broadcast rules.

I have MLB.TV and it's getting annoying having all these games blacked out. Wtf am I paying for? Also, the noob announcers are annoying as hell.
