Whales are very important for the marine ecosystem. Gotta protect them and our beaches.

NJ Dems =

That didn't answer the question. Conservatives only fought it because they fight anything liberals want and they decided to act like they care about whales to kill it.

Yes. OC has computer renderings by a 3rd party that Orsted couldn't refute. These farms were only 13 miles offshore. You are citing a different project in the article (which is 30 miles further offshore). Apples and oranges.
How can any adult that has seen so many of these bait and switch deals by various developers who need approvals by local governments.... how can anyone who has seen decades of projects not being what they showed you to get approval... how can they believe anything the developers say and trust teh "owned" politicians to write restrictive wording into contracts that disallow teh bait and switch?

How can anyone be shocked upon seeing what they end up with?

Take the proposal models and mock-ups and toss them aside and say show me the restrictions as to what you cannot build and what you are forced to build.

While fighting FOR green energy. What are conservatives fighting for?

Terminating the Constitution, the right to beat the police with the American flag after losing a landslide election, the ability to cancel votes they don't like, the ability to interfere in women's healthcare, banning immigrants, Russia, a "billionaire" who is an adjudicated rapist, the right to ban speech on college campuses, book bans, the right of domestic abusers and the mentally ill to walk around with AR-15s

Isn't it contrary to the duties of a moderator for you to be stoking ******** in a thread?

Come on.

Isn't it fun to watch people who care about mass shootings and children being slaughtered in a bowling alley last week and who cheer on bombs being dropped on refugee camps pretend to care about whales?

It's up there with them having a board where there demand public colleges offer less free speech protection than Twitter.

The same people who otherwise have called environmentalists every name in the book for decades suddenly care about whales. I guess oil rigs all over the Gulf of Mexico (not to mention spills) magically aren't bad for whales but if a windmill is attached they are.

Similarly I am for an oil rig assuming it's built in Montgomery.

No worries Nuke plant gonna get built to make up for no Wind Farms. I'm sure you nitwits will enjoy that. Can you say ground zero?
Have at it. I’d prefer that right in Beesleys Point over windmills in the ocean. At least we know the facts on nuke plants

follow the money is what I have been screaming about the whole time. There was way too much money being flitted about and laws being changed for the good of a foreign company. The whole project was being rushed and shoved down everyone's throats and you can guarantee the costs were going to be 2 or 3 times what they were telling everyone when it was all said and done and NJ taxpayers would be on the hook for whatever it was, because you know, NJ.

Lots of joy in OCNJ today but I'm sure Murphy isn't going to give up that easily.

We talked about this several times in the original thread. I had zero issue with people questioning the financing and cost to taxpayers for this project and it certainly sounds like some of those objections were fair.

I just hated the fact that so many people, largely on the right, tried to falsely blame windmills for deaths and injuries of marine mammals (especially whales) in a weak attempt to derail the project, when there is absolutely zero evidence for windmills causing these impacts (the vast majority of whale injuries/deaths are known to be from commercial shipping/fishing).

The real objection from most of these folks was the aesthetics of their views being spoiled by very far off objects they could barely see, as the vast majority of these folks couldn't give a rat's *** about the whales - or else they would've been up in arms for decades given the decades long issues with whale deaths and injuries.

Is there a difference in the project to be built in Virginia compared to this project?

Has there been an increase in dead whales off the cost of Virginia?

Did the project in Virginia have similar pushback?

If the project in Virginia gets built would an exact replica to be built off the coast of NJ be controversial?

Please, don't start with windmills and the faux environmental impacts. The science is very well known that there are minimal environmental impacts from windmills as several of us have posted over the past year. And that's why this project isn't dead, per se, just delayed until we can get a better financial deal (which NJ deserves).

Just heard that the project is not done.

Contract moves to the next low bidder and the State will seek reimbursement per terms in the contract from the original contractor.

Union contractors are continuing to work on the project
