I read the article. How awesome the she is making $3.5M/year but how awful that creeps rob her of a lot of her freedom. The best and worst of the Internet age. She seems to be handling it well.

Dunne is a good not great gymnast - made AA but no titles
Stokke is pretty much same class
National HS records and title, Freshman records at Cal and made AA.
Her fame inducing photo came at 17 (2007) and photogs started crowding her meets while major papers had blogs about her.
She was freaked-out by it all and retreated from it - still a good vaulter but the progress leveled off
And Stokke is now Mrs Rickie Fowler.

Of course but it’s a double edged sword as is any celebrity status. The world is filled with weird people and social media makes it easier for them to fulfill their obsessions

She is from Hillsdale NJ in Bergen County. Didnt know her parents were RU grads either, wish she went here instead of LSU. So many of their meets are on ESPN because of her.

College girls posting pics at the beach or gynmasts doing tumbles and moves at the beach in their bathing suits means that they should “expect” to be stalked at their games is not something we should be normalizing.

I think what others and myself feel are that, with cases like this and the accompanying fame, the good and the bad are all part of the package. I'm guessing there are very few which believe she deserves to be tormented by stalkers. She is shaking her booty and wearing skimpy outfits to attract attention. The result is the masses will look and interact. Unfortunately, the creepos are part of that. In general (and a little veering from the topic), celebs seeking fame and fortune can't scream out "look at me, look at me", then when things don't go the way they want, beg for privacy. They created their own frenzy and the media/paparazzi and fans will eat it up...good or bad.
