I love the name. Not to crazy about the uniforms. I'm all for keeping things simple (that's one of the reasons the Hornets uni's sucked) but this is on the far end of the spectrum of simple. Could have at least made "New Orleans" bigger or more prominent. I don't hate them... just not a lot to love about them.

They could be named the New Orleans Sissy Babies and wear purple uniforms with a unicorn mascot for all I care... Jrue, Gordon, Tyreke, Anderson, and Davis is going to be siiiiiiiiiiiiiick and a whole lot of fun to watch. Especially on D, which is saying something because that offense is going to be a highlight reel.

For the people who hate it, what is it that makes you not like the name? The bird in Finding Nemo come to mind? I grew up around pelicans so I guess I have a different idea about them than most people who only know them from cartoons. I've been attacked by those things too many times to count. You don't mess with pelicans.

I'm with you. The name would be stupid for any team anywhere other than NO, but it makes perfect sense there and is a good name for the team. Uniforms don't look too bad overall, but the "New Orleans" on the front is terrible.

Seems as if Benson's team is really embracing the small market and isn't going out of their way like a lot of similar teams to try and get national attention. Louisiana and gulf coast first, whoever second.

Like I said, I grew up around pelicans and they're bad ***. When they announced the name I instantly liked it.

I'm disappointed with the jerseys though. Especially considering the guy who designed them is from Mississippi. Said he didn't want to embrace the caricature stereotype of NOLA... which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. New Orleans is the most flamboyant city in America. The city's arena has a big *** Mercedes symbol on it. Even homeless people wear leisure suits. I'm fine with not putting "pelicans" on the jersey (again, even though I like the name) but put "NEW ORLEANS" in huge letters straight across the chest in gold letters for crying out loud. They look like 1970's jerseys with really, really long shorts.

Oh well. I was going to buy a jersey but I'm now just going to wait until next season when they debut the alternate ones. People around these parts favor college sports, but there's one thing that can't be debated in college vs pros... the fan has the utmost say in EVERYTHING. Feedback from this lackluster debut should help to make some great jerseys in the future.

I was a big fane of the Krewe or wish that had taken the Arena team name of the Voodoo. Can't make myself like Pelicans

This looks like the kind of uniform you see whenever ESPN does a special on the 1973 NCAA tournament, with the exception of the shorts not looking like something Richard Simmons would wear.

Krewe was the worst of the options

It would be like naming a sports team the "Balla Boyz"

why? it supports the Mardi Gras tradition and to me just sounds better than Pelicans. I'd agree if there was not tie-in but Mardi Gras is a lot of what NO is famous for, so we'll have to agree to disagree.
