I may be making the jump to the metro Monticello area. Any info on rentals or apartments would be appreciated.

TIA

My father worked for St Regis Paper Co (now Georgia Pacific) in the 60s and 70s. We lived in Brookhaven and he commuted. Something to consider.

Monticello may have some relatively cheap starter homes for sale. Brookhaven has rental property downtown about 20-25 minutes away. Shivers Fish House comes highly recommended in the area. Wolf Hollow Golf Course at Co-Lin is nearby. Sullivan Ford in Brookhaven has more new and used inventory if you are in the market just ask for Joe***

We had 3 red lights back in the 90’s. Think it’s down to one now. I’ve been gone for 30 years. It was a good small town to grow up in back then. We didn’t have anything to do but never got bored!!

I grew up in Brookhaven…or if you wanna get technical…Hog Chain. I’d live in Brookhaven or Lincoln County before Monticello. There’s some good food options and such in Bhaven. And youre on the interstate to get out of town quicker.

And by the way, we pronounce it “Mon Tick A Low”.

Do NOT swim or fish in the Pearl, unless you are okay with City of Jackhole $h!+/hazardous waste
The Bonnet Carre gets a lot of blame for ruining oyster beds, but it's actually Jacktown dookie water.**

I ate a lot of biscuits, big ones, and frosty mugs from that wards. Same ole story. Once the 84 bypass got built the end was near.

Brook isn't a bad little town by MS standards.
Good friend of mine lives just east of 51 off of 84. I believe the little community is called Moriah. Maybe Mariah. Nice little rural community but plenty close to Brookhaven and 55. Idk much about it, but I’m not sure I’d go all in on Monticello.

I've had a partial residence in Silver Creek for 4 months of the year for the last 30years. Most people who live in Monticello who don't work at the mill, drive to Brookhaven, Jackson, Hattiesburg or go offshore to work. If you are going to Monticello to work, you will be the rarity in that community.

You’re referring to Mt Moriah Baptist Church and Mt Moriah Baptist Church is square slap dab in the middle of downtown Hog Chain Miss’sip!

My wife is from Collins which is not far from Monticello. Been there many, many times over the last 47 years. I always felt like I was visiting a 1960’s version of the twilight zone. The little town itself is ok, but when you turned on to that little country road where her family lived it was like crossing into another dimension. A more rural and more backwards version of Mayberry’s characters. All good people but 50 years behind the times in almost everything.
