OT: Prayers Please

Hey all. I know I've asked for quite a few positive thoughts and prayers lately, but I just need some continued prayers. I just got a call back from an interview that I'm moving forward in the the process to get back into the tech field. It's not a done deal yet as I still have to meet with their HR, but It's the best news I've had in months. I'm trying not to be too excited until I have an offer in hand, but I'm shaking right now at the thought of getting out of that warehouse back to guaranteed hours and getting back into what I love doing. If so, I'll be back here for most games again. Again, trying not to get overly excited, but I'm near tears at the thought of this.

I feel for you there has been talk at work about losing full-time hours and I have a family that I support. This has been incredibly stressful and would make me feel like less of a man.

I hope that doesn't happen for you. Even at my warehouse job, hours have been cut a bit. I've gotten sent home early a few nights. That's both good and bad. All the more reason for me to get out of there.

Younger me used to think I'd be ok doing just about anything. I don't mind work. But man, this warehouse job has taught me that I've found something I do not enjoy one...single....bit.

As far as you being able to watch games live. I'm not sure that is a health improvement for you. I know how you are during games.

Nah, it's a mental health improvement. Even if I do get cranky, it's cathartic. And it's WAAAAAY better than when it was Cal's last couple of stints. I know with Pope he's at least gonna try and not pontificate to us.

I have been fortunate in my life to basically always have a "decent" job.
I haven't always like the job, but it was a steady pay check.
Luckily, I am now at the end of my work time and pull the trigger any time, but even doing that is a scare

What type of IT work are you gearing towards? Is it just general IT or a specific area of IT?

I need to get back to reading my Hacking and Security (Rheinwerk) book. At some point I'll have to put Windows 10 on one of my three pc's unless I learn how to set up and run a VM and install Win 10 from there.

Right now I'm doing order picking with a cherry picker. Production goal is 18 picks per hour. The other day one of my "picks" required stacking 130 boxes into a large carton. Insane and as a temp I'm only making $17 per hour. I'm hoping to get some experience at cherry picker and moving onto better pay and schedule. I hate working 5 days per week.

Yup, I used to be a line worker at UPS, first truck so I had to make sure every package was flipped over for the rest of the belt while picking my own truck. Lots of fun when treadmills came down and I had to lift 200 pounds into a semi by myself.
