Is there a way to put a picture/photo that I have taken into a reply on the board?
Thanks
The image is in my documents or my pictures, not a url
How can I put it into a reply?
Thanks
It saves the site owner from having to pay for storage and hosting all those pics we post. Instead we just suck bandwidth from the original hostInsane that you have to jump through hoops to do something so simple
You always had to use a 3rd party site to post pics here. The other site allowed direct posting from your device. Did they change that?I stopped posting any sort of pictures since the change was made years ago- I have no interest in posting a personal picture to a website just to post on here.
On this site- and it goes back 10 years or so- you used to be able to just post a picture. I forget when they made the change. You always had to use a 3rd party site to post pics here. The other site allowed direct posting from your device. Did they change that?
memory is expensive. Came down to dollars and cents. On this site- and it goes back 10 years or so- you used to be able to just post a picture. I forget when they made the change.
It's probably a bit of both. Consultants always say storage and hosting are cheap. Storage is cheap until you start maxing out your old SAN and need to buy a new SAN, but economic headwinds start blowing and your bottom line creaks & groans.I use imgBB and it works for me..
Think Al is wrong... once you host photos you may be made responsible for what is in those photos. hard drive space is cheap.. but bandwidth and performance in serving up photos and videos is not. And still, sites provide it for free.. so.. it is not cost of storing and serving or processing, in my opinion, it is something "legal" preventing hosting images.
Hmmm.. true enough.. the tech talent needed to build, maintain and manage it all ain't cheap... and still, some sites do it for free to the user. So.. how is that possible? It's probably a bit of both. Consultants always say storage and hosting are cheap. They are quietly monetizing what you upload. It's in the terms & agreements statement you ok'd before creating your account or uploading for free without an account (you read that huge block of legalese first, right?). If you cannot figure out what the product is, you are the product.Hmmm.. true enough.. the tech talent needed to build, maintain and manage it all ain't cheap... and still, some sites do it for free to the user. You go to imgur and find upload box
You can use a folder search option to find item or use a drag and drop option. (A)
Once your photo is uploaded you go to upper right cormer of your pic were you see three dots. (B)
You hover and you'll get a drop menu - pick "Get Share Links."
Then you'll see 4 codes to pick from. (C)
The line you want is "BBC Code Forums"
Hit "Copy" and then paste it in your message are here.
Once you post you should see photo, .gif etc.

when I use imgBB I click the image to open it in imgBB, then right-click and open in new tab then I copy/paste from the address bar. It works well.. no fancy imgBB marking in the inserted imageMy guess is I post more photos/graphics than anyone on the board (weather/COVID) and I use imgur, but the directions above seem overly complex. When I've uploaded a pic, all I do is click right on it and select "copy image address" (not "copy image" which doesn't work on this site) and then paste that link address into the photo image popup one gets on this site when making a post.
Not true. Prior to 2015, when the "new" site rolled out one could simply paste graphics into a post, but after that, one had to have the graphics hosted on an external site, like imgur and then paste them into the photo pop-up box. Can't even post photos/graphics directly from places like FB here, which I find annoying. You always had to use a 3rd party site to post pics here.
