I heard a rumor that he passed away but have not seen any obituary for him. A friend who knew him wanted to know. He played in the late 70's. I think 1977 to 1980 and was out of Forest Hill High School in Jackson.

Saw something popup on my Facebook feed from the FHHS alumni group about arrangements. I'll look later and see if I can't get some more info for you.

The family and I really appreciate all the prayers and the kinds words from so many. There are many of you asking about the arrangements. Everything isn't finalized yet but we do know this so far. The visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 on Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home 700 West Wall Street Grapevine, Texas 76051 The funeral will be Wednesday and we think it will be at 10:00. The time will be finalized in the morning and I'll post it then. The prayers and the love you guys are sending are helping at this moment more than you know. Please don't stop.

If this is the same David Ellis I'm thinking about, he caught a TD pass from John Bond on the first play of the game against LSU when we beat them in Jackson in 1980.

Yes, its the same guy. I was at his services today. I knew he played football at MSU, but until today, didnt realize what an athlete he was. His brother and sister spoke today, and talked alot about his college football days. He was a great man, and a good friend. He will be missed by many!!

I played against him in high school

I will say that he was one of the best high school football players I ever saw. He played tailback, safety, kicked off, returned kicks, punted, and returned punts. He never left the field the entire game against us. He was incredible as a senior.

I always thought that State wasted him when they moved him out to receiver.

Although I didn't know him personally, his athletic prowess left an impression on me all these years.
