Sorry to ask.....we got 1/2. Son is at State, but daughter has gone against 3 generations of Bulldogs and Rebels and will be at Tuscaloosa this fall. We will have to go over for a game, and I don't want to sit in the general population. I see this as a failure on my part.....she grew up at msu and om sporting events, but that place is like disney world to kids when they go see it. Thanks. JM

Your first mistake is thinking the general population of Bama fans is at Bama games. They're not, that costs more money than a hat from Walmart. Chances are unless you're in the tippy top of the upper deck you'll be sitting around normal actual Bama fans most of which probably actually attended the university or are related to someone who did who just love their team like you do. My last time there in 2022 I was wearing maroon and completely surrounded by Bama fans and it was fine.

vhdawg is spot on here. I find the vast majority of Alabama alums to be good people. It's their trailer trash walmart fans that are obnoxious.

This is true of most fanbases, BTW. But the difference is probably starkest with Alabama, Georgia, and Arkansas fans.

I could type a Glfr-esque dissertation full of warnings. No joking around: You and your daughter need to watch this.

I have personally seen and heard things about date-rape drug prevalence, and how Campus police and Tuscaloosa PD react to “situations” that will make your hair stand on end in this town.

That said, I will not resort to anecdotal statements, personal experiences or hyperbole. But I will say, you need to have a very serious conversation with your daughter about safety if she’s gonna party here.

ETA about the seats: sorry, no way in hell I’m gonna help your Bryant Denny experience be more “comfortable”. That place makes me feel like I’m at a 1939 stadium In Berlin.

I have found that as a general rule, the more expensive the ticket the better the caliber of fan you will encounter. Buy the cheapest ticket you can find and I guarantee you’ll be sitting next to Bubba and Bubbet.

You didn't fail. You made a smart parenting decision allowing the kid to make the decision.
Tuscaloosa and Alabama will be a lot of fun.

Tickets in spaces similar to the Club level will be $4,500 donation + $675 season ticket per seat. They go down to approximately $2500 + $500 in the endzones. From what I understand they are sold out.

The only season ticket you'll be able to buy as first timer at Alabama is upper deck, bleacher.

Your best bet will be SeatGeek. Or similar third party ap.

Also, my understanding is not all Alabama students have the opportunity to buy a season ticket to every home game. They are in such demand that Alabama works on an allotment system. Most students only get the opportunity to go to half the home games.

Google “Tide Pride” and help yourself to information that will enlighten you on the season ticket situation in T town.

You will have to find a ticket source from somewhere other than the university. Your daughter will be unlikely to qualify for student tix until much later in her student career. But there is a brisk black market amongst the students so she may be able to score a game tick or two as a freshman. Maybe.

Maybe ?? all college towns or any city has these but Tuscaloosa has “shot recorders”
around different parts of the campus and surrounding neighborhoods where college students live and it sends a report to the TPD if a gunshot sound is recorded and a patrol car is then dispatched.
They’ve had these for at least 8-10 years but it’s a little too late usually if a gunshot has already occurred to help save a victim but helps in the early apprehension of a shooter maybe

They have the North and South Zones that are the very similar to our club level. It is an end zone view, but you are up high enough that view is good. The inside area is much better and easier to get around than Davis Wade. I go to a game or two each year over there with friends. I have never had a bad experience over there when wearing state gear. Obviously, the on the field result has never been good.

WTF are you talking about? Did you even click the link, dubmass?

My post is referring specifically to a pattern of coercion by law enforcement to trap young women (especially university students) into a cycle where they are either blamed for their own stupidity by getting raped, or they get wrapped into making multiple statements and any inconsistencies are used to throw the case out.

And to your stupid unrelated point about gun violence, a friend of mine was an eyewitness to a point-blank shooting (domestic violence related) at a Cicle K a few months ago. It took TPD 20 minutes to respond. So your point about shot spotters and LEO response in Tuscaloosa is moot.

My granddaughter will be a Bulldog this fall, but the Georgia variety. But they live in the Atlanta area so it's understandable, and as far as I can tell, doesn't care one twit about football or any other sport. That will probably change a bit as time goes on. She had visited Alabama-Tuscaloosa but fortunately chose a much better school.

I think the Alabama equivalent to the BDC is "Tide Pride". The last game I went to, we sat against a concrete wall in the corner of the end zone, and just above us a few feet was a premium seat sort of area. Being premium there doesn't mean you have a good seat for watching the game. The fans were nice enough, but the traffic afterward was motionless for a couple of hours.

Yeah the type of Bama fans you speak of have never attended a game in Bryant Denny and never been in a classroom. The ones who have season tickets don’t give them up because they’ll never be able to get them again. Good luck finding a club level seat.

I hate endzone seating generally, but he's right about the endzone upper decks at Bama. If you're toward the middle of the field it's like the wide camera angle on EA College Football. Great for watching plays develop. The endzone at TAMU is very similar.
