The kids currently have a PS2 and an Xbox. Because of our crappy internet service, the kids can't play online head to head games so we're thinking of getting a second PS3 or Xbox for them. I've heard you can link two game consoles via either a wired or wireless home router for head to head play on two TVs.

Does this work? What do we have to have to make it work? Do you have to have two copies of the same game for them to play head to head or team such as Black Ops 2?

It'd be cheaper and easier just to upgrade your Internet. Time to get atleast a 360 and I think Microsoft is selling them at a $150 discount right now.

I wish it was that easy. We live in a rural area with no wired internet service. Our choice is dial-up, Cspire cellular or Hughesnet satellite. All suck for online gaming.

We have an Xbox 360.

I've seen the PS3 linked on a home network but not sure how they did it. They had a TV and PS3 in two different rooms and I think LAN cables running to a router. Kids had a blast playing head to head all evening.

we used to halo (1 & 2) it up with the original x box on separate tv's. the components that allow this are the same for both systems. ethernet cord from back end of one box to a router, ethernet cord from back end of the other box to the router, input from x box to the input of router and viola. hook up the boxes to the tv's and you are ready to go. as someone has already said, the 360's are going for $150 at walmart, and until xbox one gets their **** together, thats going to be my system of choice.

If you're trying to do a LAN connection it depends on the game. I haven't head people having LAN parties much this gen though so I couldn't tell you what all games are good for that.
