So I am looking for a new stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator. Going full stainless.

It's only a 1050 square foot home. So no sense in putting in a high end brand like Viking, so named because they rape, pillage, and plunder your wallet. What brand would y'all say I should go with?

Wouldn’t recommend Viking anyway. Overpriced POS. I’ve renovated several homes and used numerous brands. It’s a crapshoot. Had good and luck with some brands. Honestly Kitchenaid makes pretty solid stuff. Definitely steer clear of Electrolux.

Stick with Whirlpool, GE, and Frigidaire. Also know that fridges are in short supply nowadays. I have several clients using my coolers (Yetis of course) because the fridge they need is on back order. Evidently the rona has 17 up the supply chain for appliances.

Stay away from the companies that also make cellphones and TVs.

Ain't that the damn truth. I am an inch away from kicking my moms door down and barging in with another fridge because I am so sick of hearing her gripe about her LG.

I couldn’t even tell you what brand appliances we have. Originally everything was GE but as we have recently replaced each piece we have picked the appliances that matched our criteria rather than brand.

Completely agree though I am skeptical of Fridgidaire. Think there stuff use to be better than it is now. The company that owns Electrolux bought Fridgidaire. I’m telling you there isn’t a bigger POS than Electrolux and their equipment is very similar

I'm old school. Went simple and haven't regreted it. No screens, no bells, no whistles. Everyone in my family that bought digital screen appliances got screwed.
GE stove with knobs. Broan Island hood with old style spring back buttons. I've been down that road with screens and boards zapping out. 17 that.

Take it for what it’s worth: today I was googling “How to stop water leaking under food crisper Frigidaire side by side.” It’s less than 5 years old.

I will never have another Frigidaire fridge after this one dies. I’ve had to replace the motherboard twice.

I worked at Viking for almost 10 years. I could tell you some stories.

Not a kitchen appliance but I still have the same Maytag washing machine that my parents gave us as a wedding present. 33 years ago, never turned a screw on it. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself!

Bought a Bosch dishwasher about 3 years ago and am completely satisfied with it. It's great. Don't get an LG for anything. They're great for electronics, terrible for appliances. When in doubt, just get a Whirlpool or a GE for the stove.

In HVAC and I fix fridges on the side....

Honestly they all use the same parts. I'd suggest against an inverter compressor since parts are harder to find and expensive. I will say I come by alot more Whirlpools to fix. If it's LG it's usually their compressors that bite it.

Well thanks for giving me a very technical respond I do not understand. Do who does this mean not to buy from or who does this mean to buy from?

Same with me. I have a Maytag dish washer in my house that is great. But I’ve had a Maytag washer and dryer for about 12 years. I think we paid less than $600 for the pair.

Things to consider.
Where you live, who repairs them?
Most rural areas can only get repairs on Whirlpool, frigidaire, and GE under warranty in a reasonable time frame.
If you live in or near a large Metro area, more choices are available.

There are only 6 mass manufacturers. There are high end companies that make stuff like viking, wolf, decor, etc.

1. Whirlpool (Maytag, Amana, Kitchen-aid, jenn aire)
2. Electrolux (frigidaire)
3. Haier (GE)
4. LG
5. Samsung
6. Bosch

Bosch is more expensive, but find out for sure they have a local repair person, then call that person and double check. But Bosch makes great stuff.

If you are saving money, go Whirlpool.

As someone said earlier, a lot of internal parts come from the same Chinese factories across multiple brands.

It means they are all the same and upcharge you based on the atheistic appearances (random stainless trims, pointless crisper trays). Stay away from LG

Just get a good deal on a basic stainless fridge. It's a roll of the dice on how long the compressor lasts, but you should get 15 yrs. Someone like myself will charge in the $400 ballpark to replace it so it's not even that big of a worst case scenario.

I love Bosch. Made in NC. I've done this 3 times now, Kitchen aid (pretty good, went through 2 boards on the dishwasher, 1 on the oven $$$$), LG (mixed) and Bosch. Love the bosch, especially the dishwasher.

Replaced my whole kitchen from GE to LG in 2020. Not a good decision on my part. The first 3 months the electric cooktop had a electrical burning smell under the counter. No other mechanical problems so far but the controls are not very user friendly. During our research, the old American brands didn't seem to have the same quality level as they did 10 years ago, but GE is still probably a good mid-level choice.

You may be limited on availability depending on what you are looking for. We bought a new fridge before Christmas and had to take what we could get because of the back order. Maybe it's caught up by now.

We bought a GE.

Our kitchenaid dishwasher leaked from the bottom and destroyed our kitchen, had to remodel and didn't want to. When it did work, it ran 4 hours on normal cycle.
I talked to 2 other people who had the same leak but cought it early enough.
I will never buy their dishwashers again.
We replaced it w a bosch and it's fine.

Also hate our lg fridge mainly for the icemaker.

Agreed on Bosch for the dishwasher. If I recall correctly, different Bosch models make up the majority of the top models on Consumer Reports.

Not as clear cut of a winner on stove and fridge but GE, Maytag, and Frigidaire are in the mix as others have mentioned. I usually go to the Wirecutter for free reviews and have been happy with purchases they’ve recommended. Sometimes pay for Consumer Reports for a month to see their recommendations.

First of all, do not spend all that money on high end stuff. Not worth it. Secondly, base your decision on who is available to make a repair when it does break. If possible, buy from someone who sells the appliances and repairs them. Make sure they have been in business a while and that their reputation is good. We built a new house 3 years ago and went GE because it is a local vendor who will be there for us when something breaks. So far so good. You might consider looking at Consumer Reports for some guidance.

Another vote for Bosch dishwasher. We replaced the most expensive Whirlpool dishwasher 10 years ago.. The Whirlpool lasted just 3 years - motor went out.

Big no on Samsung appliances. Our refrigerator leaks water in the higher temp side. I've repaired it once but it is leaking again. Now the display is slowly dying. We also bought the front loading washer and dryer. My wife hated them so back to Whirlpool which last forever.

For that size house, I’d 100% pick one of these Brands or even some other brands.

I’d base it off whichever one give you the best deal.

Highly recommend the Bosch dishwasher (check Lowe's for sales twice a year).
Do not go with built-in microwave...try to design a shelf (with elec. plug) that will hold a free standing microwave. you'll thank me later....and do not place it below countertop.

Based on my personal experience, don't go Bosch. Down here on the coast I was looking for somebody to repair a Bosch dishwasher. The first several shops I contacted refused to work on them. Finally got one to say he could, but it would be at least 3 weeks to get to it. He never contacted me again. Called another guy that advertised he serviced Bosch and told his voice mail the story. Never heard back. Finally just junked it. Bought a Whirlpool that is just as quiet as my Bosch. Very efficient.

I am fortunate enough to have a place to buy from that got their start selling iceboxes and Edison phonographs. Multiple generations of fathers and sons. So I am not at all worried about repairs down the line. I would just rather not need them.

I’ll second the Bosch. There are times late on a very quiet night and i forget it’s running. I’ll think to myself what’s that very very faint noise. I’ll get up and see that red dot on the floor and remember it’s the dishwasher. My only complaint is they don’t have great drying cycles but that’s the price of a quiet dishwasher. I’m also the oddball that has had good luck with Samsung red refrigerator. It was bought before all the terrible reviews came in on them.

Best Buy used to sell appliances online, in sets. To where fridge, oven, dishwasher and microwave would all match. I once bought a set for like $1900 that would’ve been $4200 bought individually. Used them for 10 years, and sold them with the house. Never had a single issue with one.. unfortunately I’m drawing a blank on the name brand. But it was a well known one.

KitchenAid is Whirlpool’s higher end brand. I’ve bought Whirlpools all my life and have generally been impressed with the job they’ve done and their reliability. About 8 years ago I switched to KitchenAid for everything and have been really impressed. Everything is like its Whirlpool counterpart except with more features and a lot more quiet. Only repair I’ve had in 8 years was due to a babysitter breaking the dishwasher’s detergent dispenser.
