Sorry for another one of these type posts from me but this is a great place to ask. I will be at a tennis tournament in Columbus this weekend and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on some good local places to eat. Thanks for any suggestions.

Haven't spent much time in Columbus lately but Ruben's catfish house and Old Hickory Steakhouse used to be really good and family friendly, low key atmospheres.
Harvey's and J Broussards if you are wanting a more elegant atmosphere.
Profitt's Porch is in the middle of now where but has excellent po-boys and gumbo and a great patio atmosphere on a lake. Definitely need to use a GPS to get there if you have never been.

Ditto Proffits Porch. The newest it restaurant is Hucks Place, good steaks , kind of a creol flair.

Thanks guys, how is the Little Dooeys in Columbus? I know some don't like it or say there is better but I love it and my kids do too so just wondering if the one in Columbus is on par with the one in Starkville?

Last time I went to Huck's it was awful. I would stick to either J Broussards, Harveys, Longhorn or Profit's Porch. I almost forgot Old Hickory Steakhouse. Their steaks are pretty good. If it were me and you were just visiting, I would make the trip over to West Point (20 minutes) and go to Anthony's.

To get to Profit's Porch; If you are on 45 in Columbus, turn onto Holly Hills Rd (Sprint Mart and Cadence Bank with clock tower mark intersection north of town). Once on Holly Hills simply turn left onto Officer's Lake Rd.

If you are on Hwy 50 between West Point and Columbus, simply turn right onto Officers Lake Rd. (curvy as ****, go slow)

Huck's is by far the best restaurant in Columbus. Everything is great. From shrimp and grits to a ribeye.

Huck's, J Brousard's, and Old Hickory. All are good steak places.

Proffit's Porch is great if you're going for a sandwich kick.

Little Dooey's isn't bad either. About the same as it's always been.
There's also a Christy's right by Little Dooey's now if you're in the mood for a greasy burger.

If you're in town for Sunday lunch, go to Cafe on Main. You'll thank me later. Trust me.

Stay the hell away from Rubens. Used to be pretty decent but in the last few years it's gone way down. For good casual dining, Hucks is excellent, the Grill on Jackson Square is pretty good too. Old Hickory is a great steak in a restaurant right out of the 1950s. Pretty cool to see them grilling the steaks with a window to the outside as you come in. Café on Main is good plate lunch type food, never been there on a weekend though. For good casual food (burgers, wraps, etc.) Zachary's is also a good choice.

If you want to make the drive to West Point (15-20) minutes, Anthony's is the best restaurant around. excellent Creole style food and steaks. You will not be disappointed

If you're in the mood for Chinese food

Peking on Hwy. 45 is legit. I'm probably biased (been eating there since I was 2 years old) but I love that place. Their Szechuan beef is the tits.

I second Profit's Porch as well. Great sandwiches. Laid back place.
