I'm showing my son some fielding tips (U8).
Specifically the pre pitch hop.
Starting here because this is something he can completely control and also keeps him active and engaged with each pitch.

Go to the Dustin Pedroia clip at 2min and watch the ESPN ticker.

@zappaa he's got a good swing for U8. Doesn't cast his hands back or get long. Stays connected.
Main problem is he starts his load way too late. When the pitch is almost on top of him.

In 1856 Samuel A. Maverick sold his herd to neighboring rancher Augustine Toutant-Beauregard, brother of Confederate general P. G. T. Beauregard. The sale was on range delivery, requiring the purchaser to round up the cattle—branded or unbranded—on the open range. The enterprising Toutant-Beauregard sent his cowboys into neighboring counties to round up all the unbranded cattle they could find and declared them Maverick’s, launching the use of “mavericks” in newspapers and common use. Maximilian Schele de Vere’s dictionary Americanisms: The English of the New World, published in 1872 included the definition for catching strays.
