That’s interesting.
He really was just right , place right time to get the OSU gig and has been living off what urban built.
He might be overplaying his hand .
I fondly remember Harbaugh's comment a few years ago about Ryan Day " being born on third base and thinking he hit a triple." The reasoning being Day was handed Urban Meyer’s team then won the conference in 2019 and made the National Championship Game in 2020. Since then, it’s been three straight losses to Michigan.

Day didn’t win a national championship

called it

he hasn't beaten Michigan and this is the cardinal sin at osu. He get's all the talent in the world and isn't on top.......
Harbaugh had the same problem up to a couple yeas ago
this year brought the record to 3-6

Not suprising, he is highly regarded by many in the NFL, especially as an offensive coach. He can get away from the situation at OSU, where if you don’t win the NC every year it is failure. I also think Harbaugh will leave Mich after this season . Would not surprise me if both Day and Harbaugh are NFL HCs next year.

He never seemed like an OSU coach
I have good friend who played for New Hampshire and still hangs with UNH teamates. Day is More UNH than OSU imo

Always wanted to see him coach a Virginia or Duke to see how good he really is.

Well, I am a long time New Hampshire Wildcats football season tickets owner.

Ah cool. My friend does tailgates at USMA and bunch of his 80s UNH teammates come to the gig. All good guys. I actually like the smaller teams and leagues (see a lot of them at Army). I'd rather be a seasoner at UNH than OSU. When I say Day seems like a UNH guy I mean he has a small team vibe where the B1G teams are kind of too big. Its like Manhattan vs Bedford Falls

His reaction to Lou Holtz this year was weird no doubt - felt like the stress of the gig was getting to him.

I can’t see Day as a HC in the NFL. Don’t think he’d be respected by the NFL players. Similar to Schiano , a coach with very little, if any, NFL experience will take his lumps. He should stay at OSU

The track record of successful college coaches going to the NFL is not great.

I wouldn’t blame him. Coaching at Ohio state in the current college football model is brutal. Heaven forbid you lose 1 game a year to a top 3 team in the country. He was one botched field goal from winning the national championship without his top 2 receivers last season.
