I have a 7 series Samsung, but I refuse to use the built in apps. Too clunky and it doesn't have all the ones I want. I use my AppleTV instead.

I have an LG OLED now, but had a Samsung before. It's not the model you mentioned, but otherwise they're identical. ;)

I don't think the ESPN app comes with any smart television, nor can it be downloaded. I had to use my Roku.

I have a 6300 model and it has the ESPN app. Didn't see a MLB app.

This 100%. I will not buy another smart tvs because of the cheap wifi cards they put in them and problems with the apps. Buy a Roku, Apple, or Amazon boxes and they work much better. I also use a chromecast which is great for casting from phone.

It's going to be hard finding one w/o smart tv functions going forward. Most are that way now.

I do the same thing with my Samsung (not sure of the series) but it integrates really well with the Apple TV. I can control the Apple TV with my TV remote.

Samsung TV apps

If you have this SmartTV, are you able to get the ESPN and MLB apps?

I have the 7150 and bought a Roku. Samsung does not have a terribly good track record of supporting their apps on this TV. They discontinued their Skype app AFTER I had already bought the external web cam for the TV. Needless to say, I was not too happy about that.

We were able to download and use successfully, both apps (ESPN and MLBTV). My problem came when the wireless card crapped out.
