Some huge trees taken out. Article states a car was tossed in the air. Haven’t seen any tornado reports. Some thoughts it may have been a microburst.

Was in Bridgewater last night when the storm hit. Didn’t even know we were supposed to get rain. LOL!

We hosted a party yesterday afternoon into the evening, so I wasn't posting about the weather at all, but yeah, scary storm all over Hunterdon, Somerset, Union and Middlesex, in particular. Lots of trees down in Metuchen/Edison, including on our friends' yard, but luckily not on the house; just some branches here. NWS report concluded these were very likely straight line winds (from downdrafts), not tornadic in nature, as per the link and post below. Sadly 3 people died from this storm, 2 in Plainfield and 1 in North Plainfield, all from falling trees.

I'm a Piscataway resident who lives two blocks from South Plainfield. I spent a good portion of my day today cleaning up branches and twigs from my lawn.

For about five minutes Thursday night around 6 p.m. I was scared. The wind was crazy, unlike anything I can remember. I honestly thought a tornado might be headed our way.

I was born in Plainfield. Our house was on the front page of the Star Ledger and Courier News the day after the flood of 1973. We were the first house on Cederbrook Road. Crazy day. We move permanently to Lavallette soon after. We had already spent every weekend in Lavallette from Easter to Thanksgiving and the entire summer since 1968.
People don't realize how many streams moved through Plainfield.
