I know. I know. There have been numerous shaving threads started here. Yet, I've not seen any on shaving the head clean. I've been doing it for a few years but I'm starting to suspect of my own strategy as ill-informed ineptitude.

If anyone of you, like me, have decided to beat mother nature to the punch and get rid of it, I'd be grateful for your advice.

A few direct questions to get the thread going:

1) How often do you shave your head?
2) Do you buzz it first with an electric trimmer (as I do more often than not without shaving...I'm lazy).
3) What cream/lotion/lather have you found best?
4) What kind of razor is best?
4.5) I use a Mach 3 Power. Is there a better razor for the head specifically, such as an 18- bladed monstrosity or should I hone my Bowie knife, hatchet, machete, battle axe or broad sword to do the job?*

I use to shave my head then my new girlfriend wanted me to grow it out and doesn't care that it makes me look twice my age. But when I did it I would trim it done with a trimmer first. I used dozens of different razors but found that cheap disposables worked just as good or better. I would do it while in the shower and id use conditioner. Wet my head and apply the conditioner, do whatever else I do in the shower, pee on my feet etc, then shave it when I'm done. Learned this trick from an old gf who had the sexiest, smoothest legs I've ever been around. Conditioner really softens the hair a lot better than shaving cream.

A little little thread drift....reckon that conditioner trick would work on my marble pouch?

I shave the noggin, everyday. I hate stubble whether it be on my head or chin. I use Murad shaving cream and then Anthony's moisturizing lotion.

1) At least once maybe twice a week
2) No
3) Proraso Sandalwood with Shea Butter and Proraso Eucalyptus and Methol (both are great, like the smell of the sandalwood better)
4) Merkur 34C HD
4.5) I started DE shaving a while back bc of thread on here, I will never go back to throw away razors. Get a good DE razor and a sample pack of blades, find your favorite blade and go from there. I tried several different blades and ended up liking the Wilkinson Sword the most and got 200 blades for $15.00. The initial investment may throw some people off but its worth it, you'll recoup your investment in no time if you are buying those crappy machs and fusions.

So do I have this correct? I pee on her feet, she pees on my marble sack which runs down my leg and kills the athletes foot which makes my head look bigger? Come on honey, let's take a shower! (and she thinks I'm gonna scrub her back for her)

I don't see how anyone can use Wilkinsons. Upgrade to Feather. I use the same setup (Merkur & Proraso) minus the blades. I also like the Proraso (green) pre-shave. It's kinda like Noxema. I don't like the oily pre-shaves. They just clog up the razor and make a mess. I like a good menthol shave and just started using Yeti Snot by Shaving Yeti. It's crazy mentholated. It's will make your eyes water, but the cooling sensation is worth it. Not to mention you know you are getting a fine product simply because it has Yeti in the name. I've also started using Taylor of Old Bond Street as well. They make the best lathering product that has great cushion and is slick. Problem is they don't make a good menthol product (imo). The Mr. Taylor's scent is my favorite so far.

OT: For other DE shavers ...

I started DE shaving a while back bc of thread on here, I will never go back to throw away razors.

Been using a Merkur Long Handled Razor and still going trough variety pack of blades. Noticed that some are numbered on both sides which begs the question ... do you ever turn the blades over?

Been getting 7 - 10 days out of each blade now and never heard of flipping the blade until I saw the sides numbered on a new blade.

Thanks,
Biscuit

I do. I try to get 2 shaves out of each side, but if you can get 7-10, go for it.

I tried feather and didnt like them, they were a bit too aggressive for my likes and seemed to knick me more then any other blade.

wait. I am supposed to change blades weekly? well damn hell. are you kidding me? I use the same damn blade for like 2 months. Gillette whatevers. By the end of that second month, I am having to choke back tears but hell, I thought that was part of being a man.

You serious, clark?

Know you're joking but ...

but can save $$$ over the long run.

Latest FUSION® PROGLIDE® POWER RAZOR WITH FLEXBALLTM TECHNOLOGY Blade Refills - 6 Count by Gillette will run $25.48 on Amazon which works out to $4.25 for each blade.

Meanwhile, Shark Double Edge Razor Blades, Super Stainless, 20 X 5 Count (100 blades) will cost you $9.89 on Amazon which works out to $ .10 a blade.

Ergo, I get ~ two years of blades for $10 while you pay $25.48 for ~ one year and are in 'pain' for 6 of the 12 months.

Well, it appears I've a good bit of googling in the near future (any advice on that Ozarka?), for half of what was said in this thread is Greek to me (I took [read: didn't finish] Latin at State). DE shaving? Preston Smith just does it all! Thanks fellas. Uncle Ruckus, I hope your new gf keeps up your golden opportunities in the shower.*

Razors, lathers, etc. aside the best advice I take away is to stop being lazy and shave the noggin more regularly. Price wise, I really need to look into all those other "foreign" words in this thread.

I've never shaved my head w/ a blade, but the HeadBlade always looked interesting to me.
http://www.headblade.com

My sister gave me one for Christmas a few years ago. That thing is turrible. Yes, it seems like it'd be perfect, but it's awkward as hell and getting the pressure right was almost impossible. Not to mention the replacement blades were (then) hard to find and more expensive than the rest of that racket.

I'm w/ you AHS. I buy 1 bottle a year of Shave Secret Oil , use 2 or 3 drops when I shave, 1 pack of 6 cheap *** disposables a year and use each for about 2 months. I spend maybe $25 bucks a year shaving or less when I get free sample razors at marathons, Same Club, etc. Do it in the shower and its lasts much longer, I can easily skip a day vs doing it in the sink. Shave Secret is a big big plus as The Kang would say
