Was asked by a couple of SPSers to share some photos of my trip to the Arsenal/Chelsea game last weekend. For your camera nerds, these were shot with a Canon EOS Rebel T1 with a 55-250 mm zoom. I had seats near the top of the upper deck behind one of the goals. I was easily 200 yards from some of the shots and they still showed up ok. I had to compress these pictures, however, and they lost some of the quality. I got some videos uploading to YouTube right now as well from the game that I will share tomorrow or Thursday.

In the above picture, the orange and yellow coats are security separating the Chelsea section from everyone else.

As a sports fan, I had a lot of fun. It was great to experience something in a different country involving a sport I know very little about... but I must admit, that this game did nothing to quell my distaste for soccer. Watching a nil-nil tie kind of left me with a disappointed feeling. I would definitely do it again, though. The atmosphere was quite intense.</p>

Thanks for posting those - cool to see (as an Arsenal fan). Yeah, that wasn't the most exciting match - seemed like Chelsea was playing for the draw and Arsenal didn't have much in the way of chances.

How did you get tickets? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did they cost? I'd like to catch one of their matches sometime, but they're always sold out on their website, obviously. I was able to see a Fulham match a few years ago while in London and loved it since their stadium is pretty small so we were sitting right on the touchline.

It looks like, even being in the top of the upper deck, you had good views.

Go Dogs! Go Gooners!

website that re-sells tickets in the UK. www.1st4footballtickets.com They cost quite a bit (750$ US for two - that includes about $100 in service fees). We were essentially given two credit cards like tickets with a magnetic strip. We had to return them to our hotel concierge after the game so the guy could come and pick them back up.

I agree with Chelsea not caring. They played completely lethargic all day. I think they were looking ahead to their match (today) with Barcelona.

The views were ok. The camera made up for a lot of the distance. We on the third from the top row behind one of the goals...

I would love to do that although I would prefer Anfield.St. James orCraven Cottage would do. Chelski were completely different today. The game with Barca was epic.

That's awesome, I'd love to go to a game like that. It'll be a while before I can afford it apparently, though.
