I know I've posted reminders the past 2-3 weeks but the EPL season begins Saturday and if you'd like to be involved in the Officially Unofficial Fantasy League like you were last season, just set up a team and you should be in the league. If you weren't in the league last season, send me a PM and I'll send you the particulars.

Thanks.

Do you consider exhibition games to be the start of the season? The league season starts August 16. Man U vs. Swansea first game.

Yes, we will. In fact, since you've reminded me, I have renewed the league. Those of you who were members last season should be able to join up. If anyone who wasn't in the league last year would like to join, just send me a private message. Thanks!

I believe Brad retrieved that post from last year. You are correct, games don't start til the 16th.

I didn't realize until this year how insane the World Cup schedule is. It starts a month after the European season ends so teams spend that getting ready for the Cup. Then the first preseason games are a week after it ends. Van der Gaal was coaching the Netherlands last Saturday and will coach Man U against the LA Galaxy this Saturday. There's literally no offseason.

Exactly. The talk about the World Cup in 2022 possibly being moved to a winter schedule as opposed to its traditional summer schedule has not enthused European club teams. As much as Klinsmann would like MLS to follow the European club season model, MLS looks to be well positioned for a potential winter World Cup.
