This post exemplifies why year after year, election after election, Republicans struggle to get more than 30% of the Jewish vote despite being much more "pro-Israel" in rhetoric. There's always an ulterior motive - it's not "let's protect Jews because we need to stand up for a ethnic group that has been victimized by most of the world for thousands of years," or even" let's protect Jews along with everyone else because we're just so nice," - it's "let's protect Jews so they can play their upcoming role in our own Evangelical eschatology that ends with Jesus banishing all non-believers (hmmm, I wonder who all that includes) to Hell for eternity." It's so transparently self-serving, co-opting the Jewish people's struggles and making it all about themselves.
