Let me first preface this request that I know some of you folks on here hate me because I'm an Ole Miss fan. I get it, but please hear me out on this one.
Yesterday, I got to take my step-dad to Mobile for yall's game vs. South Alabama. It was his first MSU game in over 25 years that he has gotten to attend. His health is not very good, as we were only able to watch the first quarter of the game before he reluctantly admitted that he felt like we needed to start traveling home (a paramedic checked his vitals and he was fine. The heat just eventually got too much for him to handle). He loved getting to watch his Bulldogs play, though, and was very apologetic to me of all people that he asked to leave early.
Anyways, my request or advice needed is that I would LOVE the opportunity to take him to Starkville for a Bulldog game very soon. I honestly don't know how much time he has left with us. He seems fine, but his health has been steadily declining for the past few years. He is scheduled to start kidney dialysis in the very near future, so time is not really on our side.
As for the game, I am not sure what avenue to go down in order to figure out if there is any way at all to make all this happen. I figured some of you on here would know who I should contact to at least attempt to get the wheels in motion. I doubt he could handle another sweltering day game (unless there was a way he could be in the shade to stay cool). However, for him just to be back in the stadium for any amount of time would mean the world to him.
I'd like to share a little about my step-dad with yall, if you don't mind. He is proud MSU alum and is a Presbyterian preacher. He is from Louisville and was Louisville High's radio announcer from around 1970-1978. He recently shared some great Jack Cristil stories with me that I had never heard before. Not to get off topic too much, but he said Jack showed him the ropes while Jack was doing the radio for Tupelo. Jack used to get my step-dad into MSU games and would sit in the pressbox. I won't bore yall and go into details, but they were very cool stories. Anyways, my step-dad is one of the nicest, most humble, and most generous people I've ever met. As much as he loves his bulldogs, he had no problem rooting for Ole Miss (when they weren't playing MSU, naturally) simply because me and my sister attended Ole Miss. He also loved the chance to marry me and my wife this past summer in Oxford just because it was special for me. He never thinks of himself, even now when his mobility is almost non-existent. He hates asking for too much help simply because he doesn't want to "inconvenience" any of us (which I tell him to quit worrying about that because none of my family or close family friends mind doing ANYTHING for him). This is the kind of man my step-dad is.
I apologize for the diatribe. I just wanted to express to yall how much he means to me and how much I'd love the chance to get him to Starkville for one last football game. If you have any suggestions on who I should contact, please PM my account. I don't mean to make a huge deal about this (though I'm sure I already did), but time is of the essence. I know this whole thing may be a long shot, but it is definitely a shot worth taking.
