I haven't seen Bruce since "The Rising" tour, which more or less marked the end of many years of many memorable Bruce shows, going back to the Stone Pony days - including the show at the Spectrum in '81, the night after John Lennon was shot. He played for over 4 hours that night.

I see from the pictures that "Lucy" is still in the band. We saw 2 shows during the Reunion tour ~2000ish, during which my wife and one of her friends openly mocked Patty by frequently shouting, "RICKEEEEEEEEEE, I wanna be in the show!"

The young folks probably won't get the joke, but trust me - it's funny.

@LeapinLou you lucky dog! I've always wanted to see Bruce overseas. I've attended just short of 150 shows since 1984, but they've all been in the states.
Thanks Mike. On July 28, 2016, I saw him in Oslo, Norway. His relationship with his European audience is special. They love the lyrics to "Born in the USA" and "The River". They appreciate how genuine those songs are, and that he doesn't try to sugarcoat life as an American.

I get the joke.
Over time, I accepted the fact that she was there because The Boss liked having her there. But the biggest question I still have- is her guitar plugged in, and if it is do they set the volume in the mix to zero?

Her voice irritates me. I know she’s considered a “torch singer “. Idk
Sometimes. Her work on some of the Tunnel of Love songs is really good. Tougher than the Rest and Brilliant Disguise come to mind.

Dammit watching them sing together the line: "The road is dark, but it's a thin, thin line, But I want you to know I will walk it for you any time" is just freaking a beautiful lyric and sentiment.

And, "I tried so hard baby, but I just can't see, what a woman like you is doing with me", and "I wanna know if it's you I don't trust, because I damn sure don't trust myself." What brutally honest lyrics to sing with your spouse in front of 20-30,000 people.

I honestly don't know. The first time I saw her on stage, during the Reunion tour at the Garden (where the Live in NYC album was recorded) I watched pretty closely and she was just strumming G chords. She was probably "in the mix", but the acoustic guitar would be leveled pretty low.

So, she was like the fabled running back from the 1.0 era, "The Rocket" who was in the mix, but never seen and heard?
On a couple tours, she played a solo song on her own. Not my cup of tea or vocal style, but it was OK to me. For a lot of people, it was a bathroom break song. The old shows being 3-4 hours, bathroom breaks were needed.

Who the f*ck asked you?

I'm generally pretty good natured about my board antagonism, but you want to pick on my wife then you should be prepared to die a slow and painful death.

Love Bruce but I have to admit that I'm sick of "Born to Run". I see he did it in the first show and has probably done it in the 10-15 shows I've seen but I'm tired of it. Maybe he can't not do it - I don't know.

Alrighty. Maybe you shouldn’t tell stories where she’s yelling out annoying things at a concert. You’re the one who made her sound annoying.

They once asked Steven Tyler why Aerosmith plays Dream On at every concert and he said basically that the fans would attack the stage if he didn’t. Not sure if that applies to Bruce, his catalogue is pretty broad. But he does.

You're practically guaranteed to hear Born to Run, Thunder Road, Badlands and Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out. That's why it's pretty shocking he didn't play Thunder Road on opening night.

Indeed, Bruce loves Born to Run. He was bitterly disappointed when it only reached No. 23 on the Billboard chart in 1975. He put so much blood and tears into writing and arranging the song. No. 23 on the charts felt like failure to him.

Bruce shows pre-The River album were basically sausage parties. Guys loved him! Women? Not so much. His career took a turn when Hungry Heart was released.

Great story here...

It was a long time ago and things start to blend together but Brilliant Disguise was written about and during his first marriage.

I'm not that amped up either, but that's only because I know I can't afford to go to more than one show.

I attended 33 shows in 10 cities on the 1999-2000 reunion tour. Face value on most of the tickets I bought for that tour: $37.50 (behind the stage) and $67.50 (in front of stage).
Wow, Backstreets website shutting down. Did not realize how pissed they were about the ticket pricing:

He’s not running for election I guess, so he doesn’t have to care about his core constituency.

Dude made $500 million selling his catalogue. Ok…taxes on that BUT he already had a ton of money. He’s probably worth over $500 million.

Greedy is not a good look.

As I have joked, they are the best Bruce Springsteen tribute band out there. Not as good as the real thing.

A part of me believes Clarence is rolling over in his grave. The Big Man would have had some unkind words for Bruce regarding ticket prices. He wouldn't be happy.

He wouldn't have yelled and screamed. He would have looked him in the eye and told him how disappointed he was in him. I really think this pricing fiasco wouldn't have happened if Clarence was still around. Bruce was always interested in what Clarence thought.

No Darlington County tonight. No Patti in Atlanta or Orlando... obviously the reason for no Brilliant Disguise in either city.

I started seeing Bruce in 1973 and saw him 40 times in the 70s. I seriously differ with your pre-River comment.

I would be content never hearing Glory days ever again. Radio ruined that song amongst the many over the years.
