Politics are clearly way more popular than Husker sports on this board. In about 3 hours, this thread has more than double the posts than the Holgersen Press Conference thread started last Thurs.

CBS published their version of a “fact check” this morning. Completely unbiased of course 🤣
Another "if you don't like the message" it's fake news?

What's humorous is Trump's FCC is leaning on networks to control programming.
Just like suing the DM Register because they didn't like polling results.
And I could give more instances, but you get the idea.

Their collection of "fact-checks" are "This is misleading! It may be true technically, but ..."

So yes, that would qualify as fake news.

Trump making statements that can't be proven true...

Same difference.
But you already know that.

Misleading: Trump claims more Americans working today than at any time in U.S. history

"More Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country. Think about that — any time in the history of our country, more working today. And 100% of all jobs created under my administration have been in the private sector."

Details:

Preliminary data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show there are roughly 158.6 million people employed in the U.S., as of January 2026, which is more than at any other point on record.

I just think it is concerning that Trump declares this as a golden age for the economy. A year ago he said the economy was horrific because he inherited it from Biden. What has changed dramatically since then? Prices haven’t come down except for eggs. The stock market has gone up so the rich are certainly richer. Inflation is down from its peak in 2022 following America re-opening from the Covid crises but it was dropping precipitously in 2023 and 2024 before he took office. I thought Trump said he was going to lower grocery prices dramatically and he promised to cut Americans utility bills in half his first year. The national debt continues to skyrocket as he spend all the DOGE cut money on ICE and the National Guard. I thought cutting the department of education, fema, and humanitarian aid was to help us get to a balanced budget? Not more huge deficits. Did you guys forget that Trump promised to eliminate the national debt in his first term? Not balance the budget, literally eliminate the national debt. How is that working out?
Inflation has stopped. How would prices go down? All that wasted money was spent. You can't un-print it

Agree on the deficit. Which programs are you ready to significantly cut?

That's like when you want to trick your kids into doing something. You don't ask them to do it, you give them one terrible option and then the one you want. Clean your room or eat your vegetables. A win either way. (This is not my endorsement for Trump in any way.)
Yeah, it's not like that at all. There was no trick. He offered a very easy choice, and people showed their hand.
It was stupid of the democrats to pick a woman candidate. Trump won because there is a large contingent of the population that will never consider voting for a woman. Trump beat Hillary and Kamala. Trump can’t beat a man in a presidential race. He lost to Biden. BIDEN! Put any man with a pulse up there, Newsome for one, and Trump will lose by 10+ points.
Just not true. Trump won because the country was leaderless, and because of inflation.

I'll give you an example of something Trump said that wasn't necessarily a lie, but grossly misleading...
"I visited Iowa a few weeks ago and gas was $1.85".

E-85(Ethanol shiit) was $1.85. The normal gasoline that 90%+ buys was $2.49.

Then again, we know from experience that of Trump’s lips are moving, he's lying.

Gullible folks, such as yourself, are why we currently have the mess we do.

president trump is an accomplished troll. he finds this fun while many of us cringe and leftists torment. whether it's a good political model or not doesn't seem to phase him or his cabal.

i wish he would be more statesmanlike. but it's not happening, even though it shatters broad public support on many issues like immigration control.

I am a Trump supporter, and I actually agree with part of this. There are times I wish he was more of a Statesman in his actions. You know what happened? Conservatives got tired of voting for a “pastor” and watching guys like Romney fold like a cheap tent. The left bullied him, the media bullied him and he basically quit the race (laid over in the third debate).

Trump came in and said “I am going to teach you how to win.” Conservatives went from voting for a pastor to voting for a street fighter. It ain’t always pretty, but we’ve learned how to win. It’s a little bit humorous to see the left cringe at getting beat at their own game: bare knuckles fighting

You forgot fascist

this is my favorite accusation from the left. What is fascism?

  • 55% of Democrats favor fines for the unvaccinated;
  • 66% of Democrat respondents to the poll were in support of the government using digital devices to track the unvaccinated to ensure they socially distance and remain properly quarantined. (Did someone mention Fascism around here?)
  • 59% say the unvaccinated should be “confined to their homes”—essentially under house arrest—except in emergencies;
  • 48% say government should be allowed to fine or imprison people who question the effectiveness of Covid vaccines;
  • 45% would approve a plan to let the unvaccinated “temporarily live in designated facilities or locations” (internment camps?) and
  • 29% would endorse “temporarily removing parents’ custody of their children if parents refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine.”

He is playing with house money because he beat Hilary and pisses off dems. I am not even sure people would care if he was in on the Epstein stuff. They already know he is creepy with woman, probably pushed the 18 boundary at some point in the last 40 years, but as he said "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? That sums up the Trump experience and his voters.

I love how every negative of President Trump you listed was a hypothetical.

"If X happened, then I bet Y would do Z!"

This retarded line of thinking is why he won in a landslide.

You are correct, but he is 2-2 in presidential elections. I mean he is a convicted criminal but he hasn't killed anyone and hasn't been caught with underage girls, and he hasn't started a war in the middle east that killed a couple hundred k people. He was pretty incompetent with the economy and the pandemic at the end of his 1st term, causing him to lose to a loser. But Clinton slept with 200 woman, and a lot of ugly ones, if Trump can cut himself out of the Epstein files successfully I think he will be remembered relatively fondly.

Check the date on that tweet from Ernst...January 6th.

Trump was on DM on January 27th.

Trump never saw $1.85!

He's an effing liar like I stated.
Go ahead and dispute the truth, you'll lose again.
Wrong again, retard.

You've put yourself in a bad position because you didn't even quote what he said correctly, and you're arguing with a quote you made up.

All I know is that we all live in totally separate realities thanks to the media ecosystem we have. Trump is a delusional un-American lunatic, but to half of the country he's a big tough hero. It's not even something we can argue about, because we are being fed totally separate facts and totally separate versions of reality.
Kind of how you think Republicans view Trump, lol.

What those gullible people didn't forget was that gas prices in 2023 (continuing to use Iowa) was over $3.25 per gallon.

I quoted what Trump said in his SOTU, and then proved that gas price wasn't $1.85 when he was in DM.

Sorry you didn't comprehend.
Maybe Trump was referring to you with his campaign statement "I love the poorly educated"?

So you have proof that every gas station Trump passed by on that day was more than $1.85? And you can provide evidence of the prices at every single gas station on the date and time Trump was in Des Moines? Hell down here the gas prices change every time the tanker dumps their fuel at the gas station. Perhaps it was $1.85 when he drove by at 10:00 am but went up to $1.88 when the tanker delivered the fuel at noon. Or even still, the opposite, where it went from $1.88 in the morning to $1.85 that afternoon? You have no clue.

You do realize a President doesn't control the price of gasoline, right?
I am not Trump fan but he threatened massive tariffs on Saudi Arabia, and he has threatened to attack Iran, which have both caused an increase in oil production from the middle east in preparation for disruption due to Iran. America is the largest exporter of oil as well, and so it has great capacity to lower prices, obviously greed has kept our prices high. Not sure if he done something with exports or encouraged more oil to stay home, but he focuses heavily on two things...the stock market and gas prices. Kind of stupid but effective.

K, this video is actually really stupid and he completely contradicts himself by lying.

He talks about context and nuances (very important, I agree), mileading and dangerous narratives. He goes on to talk about the SOTU and uses the example of Dems sitting down instead of standing. Check the 1:20 mark.

In his example, he's trying to repeat what Trump said during the SOTU and within this story telling he says, "All immigrants are bad. Well, I mean, nit the white ones, obviously. They're cool. But the brown immigrants though, violent psychopaths".

Again, this turd is implying that that was said or implied by Trump during the SOTU.

So this mf'er tries to say that Republicans dont understand context or nuances when he in fact purposely lies just so people like you @Claud-Henry Smoot fall for it and think our side are the bad guys.
