Looks like we should be saving up boys.. Unless they are grandfathering in Cellular South plans to Cspire, then they are adding a $30 dollar a month charge on top of their unlimited plan for "streaming data".

Basically what Cspire has done with their new plans is this.. They have separated their data plans into 2 parts. Data--Web browsing/e-mail and Data--Streaming.

Now what the 70 dollar a month "unlimited plan" gives you from Cspire is unlimited (or infinite as Cspire is marketing it) Web browsing/e-mail.. but NOT streaming

Let's see how Cspire has defined "streaming data"

<span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">"For
example, viewing a video on YouTube, Netflix, Facebook or ESPN is
streaming. Listening to Pandora and game broadcasting also counts as
streaming."</span></span>

So in order to stream any type of video or audio you are going to need to purchase some type of streaming data plan.

Here is a forum post from a guy named jcspann who has a detailed look at the new policies for Cspire
http://circle.cspire.com/message/1440

Also, here is the Cspire website to their new unlimited plan page
http://www.cspire.com/sho...ails.jsp?id=prod27220101

I just wanted to let everyone know that as of the end of this month, your phone bill could possibly be raised, and when you renew your contract, it will be raised. If I want to continue to use my phone as I do after this new plan takes effect, then I will be paying 20 more dollars a month than I do now.

Stupid name, stupid logo (Why bother making your logo a "C" if you're going to keep your first "C" normal? Now it just looks like "c c spire."

They had the most reliable, most affordable service/plans until now. This just means that next time my contract is up, instead of re-contracting without thinking, there's a good chance I'll switch providers.

I have always been under the impression that Verizon was using Cellsouth towers. I have been told that by numerous people in the industry and they are full of ****.

My company phone came in today and I drove all over East MS with it and my cellsouth phone. Exact same blackberry, just on two different networks.

The Cellsouth phone had much better service in rural areas. They had the exact same signal strength along 20 and 59 but once you got off of the main drag, Verizon would drop to 1 bar while cellsouth had 3-4 bars.

This pissed me off because my contract with cellsouth is up in November and if they do not have the iphone, I was planning on making the switch to Verizon. Now I don't know what to do. ATT is not an option since their coverage sucks *** and it drops calls every 5 minutes.

Sucks about the price increase, I will have to make a decision at the end of November. I don't see one thing that Cspire has added or changed that appeals to me in any way.

I am also not a business guy...<div>
</div><div>however, this seems to be one of the dumbest business moves I have ever seen in my life if true. You don't build a customer base in the cellphone industry by (a) being regional and (b) being more expensive than everybody else.</div><div>
</div><div>I'm with AT&T and me and my wife pay 135 bucks a month for unlimited everything (with the exception of minutes, but we have so many rollover that it doesn't matter)... Plus, there is good national coverage with AT&T. So, Cellular South is now expecting customers to pay 100 bucks for each line to be totally unlimited and still being based mostly in Mississippi, Lower Alabama, and West Tennessee area. That's dumb.</div>

In that time, I've lived in Tupelo, Hattiesburg, and now, Hernando. I've also had jobs where I have had to travel all over the state. I bet in 7 years I can count on one hand the amount of times I have dropped a call.<div>
</div><div>If you can put up with terrible customer service once every now and again, then AT&T is not a bad option for the entire state of Mississippi.</div>

when I got a letter telling me they were going to charge me roaming since more than fifty percent of my calls were outside the footprint. I have not seen a change in my reception. I was also told by Verizon that Starkville will be the first 4G area in the state.

It's not going to be Verizon, ATT, Sprint..... and Cspire who are the exclusive iPhone holders. Cspire isn't in the top 10 cellular carriers in the country. The big cellular companies fight their *** off to get rights on that damn phone. If Apple decides to ink deals with some of the lesser wireless companies, it would be for the iPhone 3gs or 4, but again, that is highly unlikely.

Poor cell phone selection with Verizon/ATT type pricing is probably going to push me to move over.. and I would consider myself one of their bigger fans.

CSpire will never sniff any sort of apple product unless (a) they grow by about 10 million customers or more or (b) Apple seriously relaxes who they allow to sell their products.<div>
</div><div>This is why you've seen so much Cellular South advertisement against that phone over the years... They know they'll never get it.</div>

From what I understand. If you have the unlimited plan now, nothing will change until you upgrade phones.

So when its time to upgrade, i'm out.

Plus their phones are so out of date. They got the milestone x when verizion was getting the 3rd version of that phone. It's pretty sad for them to be so far behind on phones

The only problems I have had with reception is when I am in the middle of nowhere. Now they get the IPhone with $79 unlimited plan for everything, gonna be hard to beat that deal...

Your plan will not change (you won't be forced to change either), and your bill will not go up unless you choose to make the change. Streaming will be included in all the older grandfathered plans. You don't have to change your plan when you upgrade either unless you're upgrading from a non-PDA device to a PDA device.

Netflix split up streaming and dvd-by-mail, that worked out well.

Let's see how splitting streaming and "data" works out.

The reason my company left AT&T was because of all the dropped calls. I had AT&T with my company for 2 years and would average dropping 5 calls a day on a good day. I would even tell the person I was talking to that I am fixing to drop you and I will call you back. This is not in the middle of nowhere, this was on Old Canton in ridgeland.

My wife has them for work and has he exact same problem. I is not phone, it is the service. We both work in sales and drive all over the state. AT&T should be ashamed to charge what they do for their crappy coverage. Is actually not a coverage problem, I believe the problem is that their technology sucks at switching towers.

Different story over here in Birmingham.
I used to drop about 1 a week when they were Cingular.
Switched to Verizon and loved it.
Got a new job with a free phone, and now I drop about every 3rd call. I'll be standing stock still at my house with 4 bars and have it suddenly disengage.
I hate AT&T.

I read the entire CSpire thread linked above.

It's obvious to me that Baghdad Bob has been re-branded as "Amanda-the Moderator". He/she either cannot or will not give straight-forward answers to simple questions and continues to qualify everything with "your current plan" and "at this time".

It's a crying shame that the decision-makers in that company have decided to go down a path that I believe will be the destruction of the entire company. Mark my words, in 5 years or less, after the results of their decisions have transpired, the next big thing we will hear is that they are being "merged with" (bought out by) AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or some other national company. That's too bad. They had a great marketing plan for many years but I think what we are all now witnessing is the beginning of the end for CSouth/Cspire or whatever they choose to call themselves in the future. Maybe the main goal has always been just to build a good company, run it for a few years, and then take the money and run. It's sad.

They couldn't up their rates as long as they were named Cellular South? I had no idea. <div>
</div><div>Theyre-brandedso theywouldn'tappear to be a "local yokel" phone carrier stuck in the South. The change in name gives them little latitude to reach to states outsideof SEC territory. I'm sure investors welcomed the change. </div>

Once your contract is up, you don't have to go sign another contract. You just keep your service and it is month to month. My contract has been up for over a year. I am not getting a new phone until they go to 4G - and then I will sign a new contract so I can get a discount on the phone. The only reason to sign a new contract is if you wanted the discount on a new phone.
