Have you ever watched The Strain on FX? Guillermo Del Toro. An imported gigantic vampire from the Balkans that is aided and abetted by a rich industrialist to take over the world. Pretty creepy take on vampires.
Yes I did and loved both the book and Series although, again, the series failed to deliver. Another good one is The Passage by Justin Cronin.

Another of my favorites and another that was shot here in New Mexico is John Carpenters The Vampires. Now why they, vampires, would want to be in a state that gets about 330 days of sunlight a year, 30 Days of Night makes way more sense, but its still very good and a lot of fun.

S2 of Shrinking on Apple TV begins today. A fun, good show, Harrison Ford is hysterical in it. Also good news, Slow Horses will have a season 6!

I read salems lot when I was a boy. Scared the f out of me

I waited a bit to get into this and glad I did - really, really good IMO. Has a sort of 'beginning of the Soprano's' feel to it with The Penguin sort of a mid-level lieutenant in the Falcone crime family looking to make a move when a power vacuum emerges (through some action of his own). But, he wasn't counting on the return of 'The Hangman', Sofia Falcone (daughter of dead mob boss Carmine Falcone), who has returned from Arkham Asylum after a decade, and how she starts to insert herself back into family politics/business (she has an existing relationship with Penguin as it's revealed he was her driver for many years). She's played by the incredible Christin Milioti (calling it now - Emmy nod for this), whose origin story (of sorts) in Episode 4 5 is one of the highest rated IMDB episodes ever (and with good reason - it's a banger). I think being able to watch all of this a couple episodes at a time is better than waiting week to week - pick it up again and at least get to episode 5 ('Cent'anni') before bailing for good...

Her origin story was E4. I agree it was outstanding as is the show.

On the old board I posted about the French spy show 'Le Bureau' which was absolutely amazing (Covid discovery for many). Now, George Clooney is producing a US version (very similar so far in terms of story) on Showtime called 'The Agency' starrring Micheal Fassbender. If you didn't get to see Le Bureau or couldn't find it, this is a very nice alternative. I think the original is better (given the French spy agency is not as big/capable as the CIA), but this works in a pinch. Worth checking out IMO.

Coupling on amazon prime video is really funny. I think it would appeal to some on this board.

An FYI and extremely mild spoiler, keep your ears peeled for Keanu Reeves voice in the first new episode of Severance.

French version was amazing - this is very, very similar. They’ve changed a few things but the story/plot in the same. The main character in the French version’s nickname was ‘Malotru’ which means ‘bumpkin’ and in the U.S. version he’s ’Martian.’ The girl he trains for the Iran mission in French was ‘Phenome.’

I figured I would get on the Severance bandwagon with S2 coming out. Have watched 5 episodes of S1, and I just don't get it. What am I missing?

Le Bureau is one of my favorites, I might even go back and re-watch (have only done that for The Americans and Breaking Bad).

One episode away from finishing up 'American Primeval' on Netflix; directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Friday Night Lights, Patriots Day) and starring Betty Gilpin (GLOW) and Taylor Kitsch (True Detective), who are both outstanding. I'll add the rest of the cast is spectacular, especially relative newcomer Saura Lightfoot-Leon, who is having a bit of moment as she also appears in The Agency. It's very much a 'mom and kid need to get from east to west to avoid dangerous people but need an escort who is up to the task' trope, but it's very satisfying though brutal to watch at times - good amount of violence and gore and man, they spend almost zero time indoors - I get cold just watching. But it has everything - Mormons/Brigham Young wanting to claim Utah, US Army intervention, Native tribes, Jim Bridger, bounty hunters, etc. Good stuff - hoping they can stick the landing.

Have any of you watched SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night mini-docuseries on Peacock? Only 4 episodes but I found each pretty interesting:
Ep 1: About auditions and shows some of the audition tapes
Ep 2: All about the Cowbell sketch
Ep 3: The Writers' Room
Ep 4: What happened in Season 11

Can’t wait to dig into this. Also, the SNL movie directed by Jason Reitman is on Netflix.

Adolescence, a short (4 episodes) streaming show on Netflix about a teenage murder involving school mates and ties into “incel culture”, bullying, and the aftermath of parents whose child was the murderer. Starring Stephen Graham. Tragic.
