I just realized after reading this thread that I really don't watch as much TV as I thought I did, or at least not as many specific multi-season shows. And it isn't because I am too busy or something like that. Although, during deer and turkey season the only things I usually watch are the 9:00 news and the back of my eyelids.

Question: Is The Wire really better than The Shield??

I see a lot of folks with The Wire in their Top 5 and not many with The Shield in it. I've always thought The Shield was one of the best series ever to be on TV and have always heard The Wire was similar and perhaps better. I even bought the whole series of The Wire and it was pretty much a snoozer 5 episodes in, so I quit it. The Shield, on the other hand, had one of the best Pilots I've seen and most certainly the best ending to a show I've ever seen. I guess I just don't get all the love for The Wire and none for The Shield.

Never saw The Shild, but the wire is my favorite show ever. Not sure how you got a full 5 episodes in and didn't get hooked, but I loved it from th get-go.

Guess I'm the only Scrubs guy, though Cosby is No. 1

The Cosby Show
Scrubs
The Office
24
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

I guess I'm not really a drama guy. Like one of the other guys, I liked West Wing but it tapered off too much.

The Cosby Show and Scrubs are my two favorite, with Cosby defining my childhood and Scrubs taking over my 20's/30's. I can quote every line of every episode from both though.

Everyone saying Big Bang Theory have never seen the IT Crowd. The IT Crowd ***** all over BBT. It's not even close. It's on Netflix. Thank me later.

Perfect Strangers, Alf, Mr. Belvedere, Small Wonder, Harry and the Hendersons

Alf and Perfect Strangers were both terrible. If any adult can still watch those shows today and really like them, I'd be really surprised.

Pefect Strangers would make my bottom 5 list... Stupid *** Balky.

In no particular order.

Seinfeld
Quantum Leap
Star Trek: TNG
House (still haven't seen the last two seasons. No longer with the chick I bought it for and watched it with.)
NYPD Blue (Andy Sippowitz is The Man!)

Wasn't sure if Band of Brothers counted. I haven't seen half the shows listed here because I don't have cable anymore. I'll see them years later when they arrive on Netflix.

Anyone who doesn't have Breaking Bad number 1 is either 1) someone who has not seen breaking bad, or 2) is an idiot.

1. Breaking Bad
2. Sopranos
3. Game of Thrones (so far)
4. The Wire
5. Dexter

Would have Lost in my top five if not for the sh17y ending. Wasn't crazy about Dexter finale but it wasn't near as bad as the lost ending.

I completely agree. Not sure I made it past the 4th episode but it was awful. Nothing happened in a single episode that made me want to watch the next one. Only reason I made it through the 4th episode is because I kept thinking that this many people cannot be wrong. People love the show. Just not for me. I thought The Wire was terrible.

Watched all the IT CROWD episodes via Netflix earlier this summer. Great show! I've only seen one whole episode of BBT, so I have no opinion yet.

The Theatre Episode was by far the best.

Because Im the only huge fan of good TV to never watch all three.

Dr. Who
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Firefly
Community

Honorable mentions: Star Trek: TNG, first five seasons of Dexter, first five of Mad Men, first two of Chuck, guilty pleasure The Walking Dead, House, ER, X Files, Seinfeld (one of the best of all time, just not a personal favorite), The Big C, first season of Torchwood.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that you would love the sopranos and the wire. Your tv list is near perfect
