Anyone having success this year? My dad is real frustrated in Warren County and has been asking what I am hearing about other folks' season. He has had two horrible years in a row. The biologist he talked to last week was saying he hasn't heard of a lot of success or activity in our area.

We had a damn turkey shoot up here in KS today. Two doubles and all tagged out. Damn Rios are a lot easier to hunt than Easterns. I may head to Nebraska for a Merriam next year.

Whole lotta nothing for me where I hunt in Choctaw county. Was on one opening day but never came closer than 120 yards. Others hunting same area haven't even heard one. Back in deer season couldn't go in the woods and not trip over turkeys.

We've had a good year at our place in Holmes County

They've been gobbling like crazy this year. I heard 5 this morning.

Nothing like a good Rio hunt to break the slump. Those birds are a lot dumber than ours. I was hunting Rios in Oklahoma one year and actually walked up on 2 gobblers strutting in the road. They both bolted so I sat down and just started to yelp on my slate. Birds slammed on the brakes in mid run and came right back to me for the kill, gobbling all the way. I've never seen anything like it.

That sounds familiar. The first bird today had me less than 75 yards from him at daylight, flew to the other side of the deep *** dry creek bed, and then in less than 10 minutes let me call him across it. He literally walked down and then back up that creek bed. It was around 10 feet deep. Never seen anything like that before. I shot him, three more birds gobbled when I shot, heard him flopping, and then one flew across the creek to us. Shot that one too.

The second set up was after seeing three birds strutting 50 yards from the road in the woods. We passed them by about 150 yards. Parked and walked into the woods. I called for about 15 minutes and then the guy killed two of them.

Been 3 times, killed two birds. 10 1/2 beard and a 10 inch in Monroe county. Heard a bird the third time but he was faster than I was. I could have doubled the first time but sportsmanship and crap got in the way. I have yet to use a call. Turkey hunting is a matter of being in the right place at the right time and having access to good land.

Clarke county miss produced a 9 inch

Bird this morning got by my bro in law, first time he hunted this year. Our place is overrun with turkey's so I'm not sure it's a good measure

Been success in Lauderdale County

I really only have time on Saturdays to go so I've only been 4 times this year. Missed one about 3 weekends ago (long story). Last week got 2 close enough to almost eat out of my hand but was in some thick woods and I didn't want to take a chance on a bad shot. 2 were gobbling non stop from 6:20 to 6:45 am this morning about 200 yards away, just wasn't interested in what I had to say. They were on someone else's property so I couldn't chase em. My brother has taken 2. Cousin took an old gobler at 7am just North of where i was hunting about half a mile. Talked to several people that have taken a bird or two and a few that have missed one.

They've been slow to warm for me in Simspon County

Would hear a few gobbles in late march but mostly quiet.

went yesterday morning and had what proved to be a smart old bird fired up really early.

Go it it him into about 45 yards but no shot and he saw no hen so ducked back into the woods right back the way he came, gobbling the whole time.

i went after him and worked him for another two hours but he would never show himself.

Most excitement I've had all year so far.

It started out pretty slow in Attala County, but last week was like someone flipped a light switch. Killed three last week there and watched another one die. Where are you hunting in Kansas? We had a good luck up there last year and is coming back in May.

Had gobbling in Carrol, Panola, and Tishomingo counties. Should be limited out, but when I ran out of Nitros, I thought I would catch up with the Jones' and go to Hevi-Blends. Low and to the right caused the escape of two birds. Went to Wal-Mart Saturday and found more Nitros.....
