So anyone that can get SW pistols can get Walther. Your best bet is to find the gun you want on the internet and have it shipped to an FFL dealer. You avoid tax, and just pay the transfer fee.
But if you do end up ordering off the internet, I recommend shipping to DJ's Silvermine on I-55 Frontage. Great couple that own the place, and their transfer fee is only $25.
I wondered how long it would take for the PPQ to make a splash. I have had a PPQ 9mm Naval for a year and a half now and it is the sweetest semi-auto I have ever fired. I always liked the Walther brand, I wanted a PPK but chose the PPQ because it was more rare. I am a huge 007 fan and love the German engineering and feel of a Walther. And it is a sexy-*** gun too.
BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE RESET ON THE TRIGGER! It is light as hell and you can squeeze of a second shot not really meaning to. That's what the PPQ stands for. The PP is Police Pistol(Polizei Pistola) and the Q is quick-draw. It was made for police and military to fire off multiple shots quickly out of a draw. The light trigger reset takes some getting used to. After your first shot you only have to move your finger approximately 1/8 of an inch to reset for next round.
Get the Naval version so your barrel is already threaded for a silencer. You will really feel like Bond then. Also make sure you get the model intended for US export as some EU models make it here with tracking chips in the grips.
ETA: you WILL NOT find one at a dealer anywhere near here. I got mine from UTAH and had it sent
to Hasselhoff's on 471.
The problem isn't locating a Walther dealer. It's locating the gun. They were fairly easy to get online 2years ago before the secret got out. Know most Walther dealers who are local can't find them. That's why your best bet is do go online to get them. For some reason Utah seems to have the best luck.
