OT: Weather app for phone

I've used weather underground for years and have always thought it was pretty accurate, especially considering it's free. Seems like the last 6 months or so it has gotten erratic and less accurate.

Any weather dawgs have an app they recommend? I don't mind paying a little for it, but prefer to not have an ongoing monthly charge.

Best overall forecast is going to be from the National Weather Service. Go to their website and put in your zip code or location and bookmark the forecast page for your location.

For watches and warnings you could just use the weather channel and set up your area for warnings.

For just pure information I like Ventusky. The free version provides a lot on information and the pay version adds a lot more. It doesn’t provide forecast or percentages other than radar futures several hours out. It’s my go to app for approaching storms. The only time I use other apps is if I’m looking for rain percentage a few days out.

FYI: Weather Underground, Weather.com, The Weather Channel Mobile App and a few other weather apps are all owned by the same company (The Weather Company), so don't expect much difference in any of those.

Since weather apps are being discussed, we periodically laugh about how the Weather Channel app on my iphone conflicts with the weather app on my wife's iphone that is powered by the Weather Channel.

If you want to nerd out just go to Pivotal Weather and play with all the models on there. They have all of them on there.

Not a forecast app, but I really like radar scope for storms. The paid version is great. You can choose any radar in the country and get various tilts and returns. For forecast I use weather channel, but it kind of sucks.

Our team just launched an App that we think is pretty good. Right now, it's only out for Android. It will be in the Apple Store as soon as their review panel gets its thumb out of their collective ***. However, if you don't live in MS it may not be overly helpful.

I've used Today weather for years now and love it. It allows you to select from many of the popular weather sources. I paid a few bucks for the full version.

WTVA weather app always has "Powered by The Weather Channel" at the bottom of their page so I guess they don't use Matt Lablahn for that, just bad weather

I live in Memphis and the action new five and Memphis weather.net weather apps have always been the most anccurate around here.

WTVA weather app always has "Powered by The Weather Channel" at the bottom of their page so I guess they don't use Matt Lablahn for that, just bad weather

- RainAware to just answer the question of when it's gonna rain.
- One of our local station has a pretty good app and allows multiple location (probably uses the same source data as all the rest)
- I recently opened the iOS Weather app and it seems to be much improved

I use three apps — two are local TV stations for Jackson and Hattiesburg— and the third is Nickelblock Forecasting which is operated by Nick Lilja who used to be meteorologist at WDAM in Eastabuchie— it’s really good app covering south Mississippi weather forecasts

I have a fourth app downloaded (Weather Channel). It’s alright. To get the full use out of it I suspect it has to be your main app— and it’s not so it suffers in comparison to the others

Radar Now is a free one that gives a radar view and has a local forecast button for wherever you are, broken down hourly for a week out. It and the weather service are where I get my forecast. I use RadarScope for my radar.

I've tried about all the ones mentioned and WU is the best. It has current weather, great 10 day forecast (with wind, pressure, temp ranges and rain) plus good customizable radar.
